It’s not Modi’s India: Fawad claps back at Sushma Swaraj over Hindu girls tweet

News Desk |

Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry and Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj had a verbal spat on social media over the alleged abduction and forced conversion of two Hindu girls in Ghotki, Sindh, Pakistan.

Fawad schooled Sushma Swaraj and told her not to interfere in the internal matters of Pakistan. Swaraj has issued statement directing the Indian High Commission in Pakistan to submit her the report on the controversy of the abduction of two Hindu girls.

Recently, a controversial video of the father and brother of the two sisters Reena and Ravina, aged, 13 and 14 made rounds on social media in which they were pleading the government to take notice of the issue. The family of the girls alleged that the two girls were abducted and after forced conversion, were married to Muslim men. The Hindu community also staged a protest at the main highway linking Daharki, Sindh.

“I sincerely hope that your conscience will allow you to stand up for minorities at home as well. Gujarat and Jammu must weigh heavily on your soul,” the information minister said pointedly.

The team of Sindh minorities department immediately met with the family of the girls upon the instruction of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Surprisingly, there is another video of the two girls that is making rounds on social media in which the girls are seen stating that they have accepted Islam on their own free-will.

The girls, also held a presser along with their husbands claiming they had embraced Islam willingly on the hands of Pir of Bharchoondi Sharif, Pir Abdul Haq alias Mian Mithu. The religious leader later married them to his loyalists, according to them.

Meanwhile, Fawad Chaudhry retorting back to Sushma Swaraj said, “Mam its Pakistan internal issue and rest assure its not Modi’s India where minorities are subjugated its Imran Khan’s Naya Pak where the white color of our flag is equally dearer to us. I hope you ll act with the same diligence when it comes to the rights of Indian Minorities.”

Swaraj, addressing back the minister said, “I only asked for a report from Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad about the kidnapping and forced conversion of two minor Hindu girls to Islam. This was enough to make you jittery. This only shows your guilty conscience.”

In his reply, Chaudhry said he was “happy” that there were people in the Indian administration “who care for minority rights in other countries”.

“I sincerely hope that your conscience will allow you to stand up for minorities at home as well. Gujarat and Jammu must weigh heavily on your soul,” the information minister said pointedly.

Later in the press conference, Fawad Chaudhry reiterated that all the issues of minorities will be permanently resolved under the leadership of Imran Khan. He further added that such issues can occur anywhere but what matters is how the governments deal with it.
