Kim Kardashian has shed light on the concept behind her unconventional attire for the 2024 Met Gala. The reality TV icon donned a custom ensemble by Maison Margiela Couture for the event held at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 6th.
Following the widespread circulation of photos and videos featuring Kardashian’s attire, numerous social media users raised eyebrows at the ‘peculiar’ addition of a sweater atop her gown. One critic on X (formerly known as Twitter) remarked, “Oh Kim Kardashian, you ruined the entire dress by donning the sweater on top #MetGala.” Another observer, commenting on her notably tight corset, expressed, “Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala appears to be struggling for breath, confined in that absurd corset.”

In her dialogue with Vogue, Kim revealed that her ensemble drew inspiration from “the most adventurous night of my life in a garden when I spontaneously grabbed my boyfriend’s sweater and threw it on, rushing to attend to my duties. And my hair was all tousled.”
It’s noteworthy that this year’s Met Gala theme was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” with attendees adhering to a dress code themed around a “Garden of Time.”
Kim was accompanied on the red carpet of this globally acclaimed fashion event by her mother, Kris Jenner, and her sisters, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner.
