Maryam Nawaz deletes video exposing Nawaz’s secret dealing with Israel

To malign Prime Minister Imran Khan, Maryam ended up exposing the secret dealings of Nawaz Sharif with Israel during his premiership, in another Twitter faux pass.

PML-N leader, Maryam Nawaz, deletes a video clip claiming that former PM Nawaz Sharif had attempted to normalize ties with Israel.

To malign Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf and Prime Minister Imran Khan, Maryam ended up exposing Nawaz Sharif’s efforts to normalize ties with Israel in another Twitter faux pas.

The now-deleted tweet contained a small video clip of the interview of the researcher, Noor Dahri to Israeli news channel i24. Dahri in his interview had claimed that an advisor of PM Imran Khan had traveled to Tel Aviv on a British passport, to discuss the normalization of ties with Israel.

Dahri said that the advisor of PM Khan has reached Tel Aviv with a special message. He did not name the advisor.

In the latter part of the video, Dahri had talked about the efforts made by former Pakistani premiers, Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto, to begin diplomatic relations with Israel. “Looking at history, Nawaz Sharif sent two delegations to Israel to normalize relations,” said Dahri. Dahri said that Nawaz had sent two delegations to Israel to build up ties. It seems that Maryam Nawaz did not listen to the other part of the video.

However, after realizing the gaffe, Maryam Nawaz swiftly took down the tweet. Meanwhile, the official Twitter handle of PTI posted a screenshot of her tweet.

“Maryam Nawaz just exposed her father Nawaz Sharif. She tweeted a link (then deleted) to the interview of Noor Dahri where he says Nawaz Sharif as PM sent 2 delegations to Israel to normalize relations #MaryamExposedNawaz,” tweeted PTI.

According to various reports, Pakistan is under severe pressure to recognize Israel. However, PM Khan has denied the possibility of normalizing ties with Israel in his recent interviews. Khan has said that Pakistan will not build diplomatic ties with Israel until the Palestine crisis is resolved.

The news of Pakistan engaging in backdoor diplomacy with Israel began making rounds after UAE and Bahrain recently struck a deal with Israel.

According to the news report, the Pakistani advisor was taken to the “foreign ministry of Israel where he met several political officials and diplomats and delivered the message of the Pakistani PM.”

Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan, had denied the rumors that he traveled to Tel Aviv with a ‘special message’ from PM Khan.

Bukhari said that he was with the deputy commissioner in Rawalpindi the day it was alleged that a Pakistani advisor had gone to Israel.
