Maryam woos PTI workers to support PML-N for country’s prosperity

Addressing a rally in Multan, Maryam said don’t waste your vote by casting a ballot for the PTI.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz has asked PTI’s workers and youth to join her party’s ranks and vote for PML-N for the country’s betterment and prosperity.

While addressing a by-poll rally in Multan on Friday, she said, “Let the country prosper and move ahead. I am sending a message of love to the youth of PTI to support PML-N and this country.”

The crucial by-polls on 20 Punjab Assembly seats are scheduled to be held on July 17.

Addressing her political rivals, Maryam said, let the incumbent ruling coalition work for the betterment of the country till the next election. She told people to vote for any one of their choices but said don’t waste your vote by casting a ballot for the PTI.

She said former premier Imran Khan was asking the people of Punjab to vote for PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi, who he once labelled as the “biggest dacoit” of the province.

“The one who said establishment changed their [PTI] nappies is now a candidate of Punjab chief minister,” she added.

Regarding the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision on former deputy speaker Qasim Suri’s ruling, Maryam said the verdict had exposed PTI Chief Imran Khan’s narrative of the alleged foreign conspiracy.

“When it comes to the country, I can answer bluntly. The day institutions violate the Constitution; they become controversial,” she added.

The SC on Thursday set aside Suri’s controversial ruling to dismiss the no-trust move against the then prime minister Imran Khan, terming it against Article 5 of the Constitution.

Maryam also said after winning the Punjab by-polls, her party would resume the free electricity scheme for lifeline consumers.

“We are also providing scooters to working women and relaunch a free laptop scheme for youth in the coming days.”

She also accused Imran Khan of using the religion card for political gains saying, “there is no greater culprit than the one who uses religion in politics.”

Maryam said Imran also attacked independent judges and subjected Supreme Court Justice Qazi Faez Isa, besides political rivals, to victimisation.

The PML-N Vice President reiterated that tough times are over, and the country is heading towards “good times” as all the decisions needed to steer the country out of crisis have been taken.

“The PML-N has removed all [economic] land mines laid by the [previous] PTI government, and if the downward trend continues in the global oil market, fuel prices will be further slashed after two weeks,” she added.
