Meera looks on to rule cinema screens with comeback in ‘Baaji’

The trailer of the much-awaited ‘Baaji' featuring Meera has been released. The two minutes and forty seconds long trailer shows Meera as an actress struggling to revive her career in the film industry. The film, however, seems to be the real-life depiction of Meera's journey in Lollywood.

The movie features Amna Ilyas, Mohsin Abbas Haider, Meera, Osman Khalid Butt, Ali Kazmi and Nayyer Ejaz in lead roles. The film is due to release on June 28th. The trailer begins with ‘Your time is up, baby,” Ali Kazmi tells an enraged Meera in the first glimpse of Baaji‘s trailer. “No. This is my time and this time will stay forever,” she retorts.

Meera portrays the character of Shameera in the movie, someone who is struggling to revive herself in the industry. She is being advised by people to join the theatre as her fans have moved on from her It is then she meets Neha, essayed by Amna Ilyas, who is a small town girl with big dreams.

Neha gives Shameera advice on how to be away from mean and selfish people. Trusting her, Shameera appoints Neha as her secretary and then the two embarks on a journey to rebrand Shameera in the film industry. In between this partnership enters filmmaker Rohail Khan, who wants to cast Shameera in his movie.

The trailer then shows the romantic inclination of Rohail towards Neha which becomes the source of conflict between Shameera and Neha. Shameera thinks Neha is betraying her and trying to replace her in the movie.

The film, as previously revealed, is “a social drama/thriller set against the backdrop of a fading Lollywood and the emerging new order of the Pakistan film industry.”
