The makers of ‘Cake’ have released a new song ‘Meri Dunya’ from the movie. The song is not a primarily romantic number but speaks of ones determination to go beyond obstacles in life for their loved ones.
The song is composed and sung by ‘The Sketches’. ‘Cake’ features the story of a family that struggles hard to stay as one unit. ‘Cake’ is slated to release at the end of the current month on March 30th, 2018.
The movie promises to deliver some powerful performances since it features heavyweights in the industry Sanam Saeed and Amina Sheikh as two sisters, Zareen and Zara from a loosely bonded family.
The director Asim Abbasi in his conversation gave a brief idea of movie’s plot. “It’s about two sisters, one of whom lives abroad and the other is left behind here. It showcases their conflicts in dealing with their relationships and parents,” he said.

“The story is something we all can relate to in some way. We have seen globalization, children moving away and the rivalry between siblings. It’s a story about love, loss and life and death – all the things that we are familiar with.”
The movie is a shift from the popular commercial themes prevailing in Pakistan’s film industry. It is an intense drama movie that exhibits the emotional traumas molding into the sense of deprivation that leads to sibling rivalry.
The trailer for the movie since its release has garnered 1 million views. It is hoped to be a step forward in creating the identity of Pakistani cinema as diverse and message-oriented.
In a press release issued, lead actress Amina Sheikh said “Can’t wait to serve the whole Cake to our audience on the 30th of March, I’m certain it’ll ring true to home and bring authenticity to our Pakistani audience. ‘Cake’ is definitely a stepping stone towards forming an identity of Pakistani cinema.”
