Noor Bukhari Joins Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party

Noor Bukhari's decision to enter politics comes after she bid farewell to the showbiz industry a few years ago.

Former Pakistani actress Noor Bukhari, known for her roles in Lollywood movies and dramas, has made a significant transition from the entertainment industry to politics. She recently submitted her nomination papers for the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 8, 2024. Noor is set to contest as a candidate for a reserved seat for women, aligning herself with the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP). The IPP, which has garnered attention for attracting former members of the PTI, including Noor’s husband, Aun Chaudhry, has become the platform for her political debut.

Noor Bukhari, accompanied by party supporters, visited the Provincial Election Commissioner (PEC) Punjab office to complete the scrutiny process for her nomination papers. This move reflects her ambition to expand her influence beyond the entertainment realm and contribute to the political landscape of Lahore.

Noor Bukhari’s decision to enter politics comes after she bid farewell to the showbiz industry a few years ago. In 2017, she made headlines with her announcement of leaving the entertainment sector, followed by the launch of a YouTube channel where she shared her religious transformation. Her journey into politics marks a unique career pivot, aligning her aspirations with the IPP’s political agenda.

The IPP, gearing up for the general elections, has witnessed an influx of personalities from various backgrounds, indicating a diverse range of candidates. Noor’s entry into politics mirrors a broader trend, with other notable figures from the entertainment industry, such as TikTok personality Sandal Khattak and internet sensation Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, also filing their nomination papers.

Noor Bukhari’s personal life, characterized by multiple marriages, has consistently stirred controversy. She has faced criticism for frequently professing her disassociation from the media while seemingly striving to remain in the spotlight. Many of her fans believe that her claimed ‘religious’ transformation has garnered more attention than any other aspect of her career.

The former actress, aged 41, has experienced four failed marriages, including one with businessman Vikram in 2008, a brief union with Farooq Mengal in 2010, and two marriages with Aun Chaudhry, the second of which took place at the end of 2019. Despite the challenges in her personal life, Noor and Aun Chaudhry performed Umrah in September 2023, emphasizing their shared commitment to their faith.
