Op-ed: Gujarat and India under Modi missed critical thinking

Most of the terror events are not viewed in a straight manner as terrorism because we habitually blame our neighbor Pakistan. We are inured to always blaming in jigsaw that it is just that.

Vibes are good and bad points that you sense around a person in a place. But critical thinking is not to blame where the person is Narendra Modi. How come so many centuries ago when the subcontinent had not acquired its identity that al-Biruni had tapped critical thinking on his journey while neither Bharat nor India had acquired a name!

However, Martha Nussbaum correctly unearthed the reason behind the 2002 genocide in Gujarat as the result of rote learning. She also found that the clash of civilizations was not behind the gory events. But the clash was within. She discerned that Hindus and Muslims spoke the same language and shared the vibes of fire on the train when Muslim promptly let their water connections and resources put out the fire.

She also found that students passed in exams by mugging up answers. There is no critical thinking in them. This fact does not square with the fact that ibn-Biruni had discovered it nearly a thousand years ago when he passed through India. The situation as of now is that home minister of Maharashtra Anil Deshmukh has already shown willingness to reopen the case of the unnatural death of Bombay High Court Judge Loya in the sanctum santorum city of RSS, Nagpur.

This may seal the doom of Amit Shah. And what Modi had told Rajdeep Sardesai “Law will take its own course.” The course is still the same and open. But Modi too was accused of the murder of (Haren Pandya). And that is opening a can of worms when we are fighting other worms like Coronavirus and that is overwhelming.

Don’t ever take the blame

Most of the terror events are not viewed in a straight manner as terrorism because we habitually blame our neighbor Pakistan. We are inured to always blaming in jigsaw that it is just that. Sohrabuddin from a village of MP was a BJP supporter and he was an extortionist who milked the marble industrialists of Rajasthan.

Whatever kickback as a rite of passage he collected he handed over to Amit Shah who naturally passed on to the Home Minister who was also the CM (Modi). It is also known that Modi boasted that he could see the octroi post from his office. So much was advanced surveillance. The chief of the crime branch DG Vanzara had outsourced the killing of Haren Pandya to Shohorabuden. Shah spent three months in prison but was given bail. Since then history has taken a turn of no return because the majoritarian politics of BJP are starkly communal.

Sardesai had asked about Shah whom Modi wanted to become Home Minister despite the Shorabuden case and the Loya case under investigation Modi remarked “The law will take its course.” The next day Modi asked Rajdeep Sardesai to delete the remark. To this day the law has not taken its course. Several scores of such cases have been swept under the carpet of parity. But neither the attack on Red Fort on January 26 2021 nor Dehli the bloodshed in February 2020 can wipe out the stains from the hands of the ruler who dared reporters to cover genocide because he had asked them to remember Daniel Pearl’s fate!

So what is left for Secretary of State Tony Blinken who has spoken over the phone with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and discussed the accountability of convicted terrorists responsible for the murder of Daniel Pearl?

“The court’s decision is an affront to terrorism victims everywhere, including in Pakistan, he said. We expect the Pakistani government to expeditiously review its legal options to ensure justice is served. We take note of the Attorney General’s statement that he intends to seek review and recall of the decision. We are also prepared to prosecute Sheikh in the United States for his horrific crimes against an American citizen,” Blinken said. Will the probe in farmers’ protest “take its course”?
