PM Khan all set to launch Ration Card by December 2021

Prime Minister Imran Khan announced today that the software for Ehsaas' Ration Card will be completed by the end of this year. With this initiative, low-income households will be able to afford food at subsidized prices.

In his recent speech, PM Khan confirmed that his government will launch the software for Ration Card by December 2021.

While addressing a rally in Kashmir, PM Khan gave updates on PTI’s efforts to eradicate poverty. He said that under the Ehsaas Program, the government is ready to provide subsidized food to the population.

The population of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir will receive basic food supplies at a very low cost. PM Khan stated that the database is established and the software will be completed by December.

As per the Ration Card, people will be able to purchase food at low prices at any utility store.

He also talked about the Kamyaab Jawan initiative. According to the initiative, the youth of the low-income segment of the population will receive technical and educational support. They will also receive health insurance of up to Rs 1 million.

Furthermore, one member of a family will receive an interest-free loan to set up their business. According to PM Khan, this will encourage low-income families to set up businesses catering towards tourism, etc.

For this, PTI reserved Rs 5 billion for the initiative, making it Pakistan’s first program of such a large magnitude.

Lastly, PM Khan drew comparisons between the incumbent government and the previous governments of Pakistan. According to PM Khan, in the last ten years, no government made the Kashmiris a priority except for PTI.

PM Khan’s Ehsaas Program

Ehsaas Program is a multi-dimensional poverty reduction program chalked out by Dr.Sania Nishtar. It aims to control the increasing poverty in Pakistan.

The focus of efforts in the Ehsaas Program is multi-sectorial. It intends to radically improve Pakistan’s progress towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Global Goals (Global Goals). The program initiated 134 new poverty-focused policy actions and programs.

Ehsaas is about the creation of a ‘welfare state’ by countering elite capture and leveraging 21st-century tools—such as using data and technology to create precision safety nets. It promotes financial inclusion and easy access to digital services.

Ehsaas supports the economic empowerment of women. It focuses on the central role of human capital for poverty eradication, economic growth, and sustainable development. It aims to overcome financial barriers to accessing health and post-secondary education.
