The governor Sindh Imran Ismail has been diagnosed with coronavirus on Monday evening. In his tweet, he confirmed that he had got tested for coronavirus on Sunday and the reports read positive for the virus.
Earlier this month, while Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah emphasized the need for a stricter lockdown in the province to prevent a surge in coronavirus cases, Governor Ismail had suggested favouring a relaxation in the restrictions, when three-week lockdown period was going to end on the 14th of April. The restrictions were subsequently extended for two more weeks.
I have just been tested Covid 19 positive, Allah Kareem inshallah will fight it out. @ImranKhanPTI thought us to fight out the most difficult in life and I believe this is nothing against what we r prepared for. May Allah give strength to fight this Pandemic inshallah.

“We are not against the lockdown and we have supported it, but in the prevailing circumstances any extension in such types of restrictions seems not possible,” the governor, who belongs to the ruling PTI, had told reporters in Karachi.
He is the latest among several lawmakers or persons with political connections to have tested positive for the disease.
In the last week, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal’s MPA Abdul Rasheed, who is a member of the Sindh Assembly, had also tested positive.
Sindh education minister Saeed Ghani, who himself went into isolation after being infected with the virus last month and subsequently recovered, wished Ismail an early recovery.

The Governor is the second Sindh Government’s member to test positive after Sindh Minister for Education and Labour Saeed Ghani tested positive.

Earlier this month, Faisal Edhi, the chairman of Edhi Foundation, had also tested positive for COVID-19. The development prompted Prime Minister Imran Khan to get tested for the virus as he also met Faisal Edhi. However, the premier tested negative for the disease.
Last month, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani was diagnosed with coronavirus and after spending a week in self-isolation, he recuperated from the mysterious illness. Governor Ismail also went into self-isolation after Ghani had detected with coronavirus as both the persons remained in contact.
Currently, the nationwide tally of COVID-19 patients stands at nearly 14,000 with 5,526 cases in Punjab, 4,957 in Sindh, 1,984 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 853 in Balochistan, 320 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 245 in Islamabad and 67 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir
The virus has claimed at least 293 lives while at least 3,029 coronavirus patients have recovered.
