Acclaimed Islamic scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel reached Prime Minister House on Friday to meet PM Khan in Islamabad. The Prime Minister warmly welcomed Maulana Tariq Jameel and his delegation. A video circulating on social media shows Maulana Jameel with a wide smile, opening his arms for a hug.
The sources claim, PM Khan informed the Maulana on the government’s strategy of poverty alleviation and welfare of the people. Special Assistant to PM Naeemul Haq was also present on the occasion.
As part of a strategy to dismantle the extremist networks, the government has decided to introduce major reforms in the curriculum of over 30,000 Islamic schools or madrassas.

The meeting between two personalities of Pakistan became a subject of discussion on Twitter. Social media had mixed reactions to the meeting. The advocates of PM Khan welcomed the meeting while the critics slammed Maulana Tariq Jameel for involving himself in politics. Some critics asserted that the meeting was arranged to mitigate the impact of anti-religious rally organized by Maulana Fazlur Rehman against PM Khan.
In April, the religious scholar, preacher and public speaker Maulana Tariq Jameel had been awarded YouTube’s Golden Play Button as he reached the 1 million subscriber mark.
The government representatives and Maulana Tariq Jameel abstained from replying to critics on social media.

Maulana Jameel and Nawaz Sharif
It is, however, pertinent to note that Maulana Tariq Jameel also shares cordial relations with ousted Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif. Maulana Tariq Jameel had led the funeral prayers of former first lady Begum Kulsoom Nawaz at Sharif Medical City ground in Lahore last year and even reached the Raiwind residence of Nawaz Sharif after Begum Kulsoom Nawaz was diagnosed with throat cancer. He prayed for early recovery of the former first lady.

Maulana Jameel is a revered figure and has respectable relations with several politicians and other dignitaries of society. He is an acclaimed Islamic scholar and is popular in the entertainment circle of Pakistan.
His images with several celebrities, including Veena Malik, Shahid Afridi, and Feroze Khan have appeared on social media. He even met Bollywood’s superstar Amir Khan on a pilgrimage a few years ago.

Admiration for PM Khan
Maulana Tariq Jameel, however, has admitted his liking for PM Khan. When inquired about the reason for his support of Imran Khan, Maulana Tariq Jameel replied that Imran Khan is the only leader in the history of Pakistan who aspires to make Pakistan a Medina-like welfare state. Nobody had a vision like this for Pakistan and this is why he won my heart, he said.
Maulana stated he is close to Mian Nawaz Sharif as well but he has not seen anyone more concerned for Pakistan than Imran Khan.

The Islamic scholar further stated when he met him several topics came under discussion, but Imran Khan was the only man who called him to discuss Pakistan. He said Imran Khan even gave him his number to inform him whenever he finds him doing anything wrong.
When asked about the criticism he is receiving from the people for supporting Imran Khan, Maulana Jameel stated that they are all my people and I pray for everyone. “Freedom of expression is a right in every healthy society and I respect it,” he added.
In a special video message addressing the nation, Maulana Tariq Jameel had urged people to support Imran Khan.
The religious cleric went on to say, “I am 100 percent sure Imran Khan is a sincere and honest person with a strong will power. Khan established a big cancer hospital worth billions of rupees and became a Prime Minister owing to his strong will power and hard work.”
“Now Khan is dreaming to make Pakistan a welfare state like Medina and we should support him. We can support PM Khan by speaking truth, not telling a lie and not deceiving anyone, which are the fundamentals of a Medina-like welfare state.”

He even appreciated First Lady Bushra Maneka for observing full Islamic veil. He stated that she is the inspiration for Pakistani women that they can observe Islamic veil despite ones high position.
