PML-N against letting Imran Khan go abroad

PML-N leader Javed Latif has strongly opposed the idea of “sending Imran Khan abroad”, warning against any such move. Meanwhile, PML-N Supreme leader Nawaz Sharif - who went to London for medical treatment - has not returned to Pakistan since 2019.

PML-N leader Javed Latif has strongly opposed the idea of “sending Imran Khan abroad”, warning against any such move.

According to the details, Javed Latif made the statements during a press conference in Lahore today where he was responding to the speculations that PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan may be sent abroad for his medical treatment.

Earlier, Imran Khan was sifted to Shaukat Khanum Hospital after he experienced stomach pain. The medical professionals initiated a comprehensive examination to determine the underlying cause of his abdominal discomfort.

Since Imran Khan remained at the Shaukat Khanum Hospital for four hours before returning to his residence in Zaman Park, speculations surfaced that he may be shifted abroad. PML-N has reacted strongly to the rumors and has opposed sending Imran Khan abroad.

“There have been murmurs suggesting sending him [Imran] abroad, but nobody should even contemplate such a move,” Javed Latif said.

The senior PML-N leader also emphasized the urgent need to eliminate the “growing tree of anarchy in order to safeguard the foundation of Pakistan from destruction”.

Nawaz Sharif remains in London

While the senior PML-N leader has expressed strong reservations against sending Imran Khan abroad, it is pertinent to mention here that PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif has not returned to Pakistan since 2019.

The PML-N supremo had left for London in November 2019 following his illness as then prime minister Imran Khan had permitted him to go abroad for medical treatment. PML-N leaders have on numerous occasions given dates for Nawaz Sharif’s return, in fact since 2021 PML-N has been making claims on Nawaz Sharif’s return.

At first, PML-N claimed that Nawaz Sharif will return in early 2022. Then it was claimed that Nawaz Sharif will return in May if the vote of no-confidence motion succeeds. The vote of no-confidence was indeed successful as the PDM coalition ousted the then Prime Minister Imran Khan. However, Nawaz Sharif has not returned.
