The authorities are treating the incident as a suicide based on preliminary findings.

The veteran politician was found dead on Thursday along with his wife Fariha Razak, at his residence in Defense Housing Society, Karachi.

Based on the initial reports after investigation from domestic help, the couple often used to quarrel and were in constant arguments since the last few days. The deceased minister used to live on the first floor of the house where the servants were not allowed to go unless required.

The guards at the residence confirmed that they heard the loud exchange of words followed by possible gunshots at 6:30 am. Though guards had informed the servants about the gunshots, they waited until 10:30 am for the minister to open the door. After which the son of the minister was called.

The door was forcibly opened. Bijarani’s body was lying on the sofa with a pistol resting on his legs, while Fariha Razak’s body was lying near the bathroom covered in blood with three gunshot wounds, one in the head and two on the abdomen.
