PTI hits back at Maryam Nawaz’s criticism of Supreme Court

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, during a retaliatory press conference, said the judiciary has been very lenient with Maryam Nawaz considering the cases against her and her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

PTI has lashed out at PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz for her harsh criticism of the Supreme Court. PTI leaders have even demanded that the PDM coalition be put on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Flanked by Farrukh Habib and Shireen Mazari, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, during a retaliatory press conference, said the judiciary has been very lenient with Maryam Nawaz considering the cases against her and her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

“Maryam, involved in such a big fraud, who has been on bail for 3 years, is speaking against the judiciary, Nawaz Sharif is walking around in every restaurant in London on a bond of 50 rupees. The others who were sitting in the press conference have no status,” Fawad Chaudhry said.

Not holding back, Fawad Chaudhry said that those who did the press conference today are the face of “dishonor and shamelessness”. He said the people have spoken against them and voted against them, yet they have a habit of getting disgraced.

“We request the Supreme Court to put those who held the press conference today on ECL. It is the mistake of some of our powerful people that these snakes were imposed on us. They want to put these institutions under pressure, first the people, now the judiciary, and the army,” Fawad Chaudhry said.

Maryam Nawaz’s criticism

Monday, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz incessantly criticized the Supreme Court and its judges. While addressing a joint press conference, Maryam Nawaz said that “bench-fixing” is a crime similar to “match-fixing” and suo motu notice should be taken over it.

Flanked by several leaders of the coalition government and the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), including Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman, Maryam criticized the country’s justice system and said that whenever a petition is filed in a court of law, people already know which bench will be formed to hear that.

“Institutions are insulted from within, not outside. One wrong decision blows up an entire case. Criticism isn’t needed where the right decisions are taken,” Maryam Nawaz said.
