PTI, PML-N govt trade barbs over policeman’s death during Lahore raid

The deceased police officer leaves behind three sons and two daughters. His death has sparked anger among PML-N who blamed PTI for the incident. 

PTI and PML-N government are blaming each other for the death of a policeman during a raid in Lahore last night. The unfortunate incident coincided with the police’s late night crackdown against PTI leaders.

To clarify, the Punjab police carried out a raid on PTI leaders’ residences. Kamal Ahmad, a police constable, was killed during an operation in Lahore’s Model Town locality last night after a person, identified as Akrama Bukhari, opened fire on him.

According to details, the bullet hit the upper part of the constable’s chest. He was rushed to the hospital. However, he succumbed to his wounds. The deceased police officer leaves behind three sons and two daughters. His death has sparked anger among PML-N who blamed PTI for the incident.

PML-N lashes out at PTI

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah labeled Imran Khan a “terrorist,” lamenting that those accustomed to hurling insults are now firing bullets. The interior minister asserted that the bullet that struck constable Kamal Ahmad in the chest was conclusive evidence that PTI leader Imran Khan was a terrorist and murderer.

He vowed to bring Kamal Ahmad’s murderers to justice. “Imran Khan, Sheikh Rashid, and his followers who promoted the ‘bloody march’ will be held accountable,” warned Sana to the PTI leaders.

Moreover, he announced that the government would take the responsibility for the welfare of Kamal Ahmed’s family and his children’s education. Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz directed the Punjab inspector general of police to submit a report on the incident and arrest those responsible for it soon.

Meanwhile, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz also lashed out at PTI and demanded strict action.

“Those who shoot at the defenders of the nation do not deserve any concession,” Maryam Nawaz tweeted.

On the other hand, PTI has blamed PML-N for the incident. Former Information Minister and PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry claimed that police officials had “misbehaved” with women and children and “tortured” people.

“Ex-servicemen and people who are retired from civil institutions were also targeted. According to the reports, the family of a retired major opened fire at forced entry into their home after midnight believing they were robbers.”

As a result, the policeman lost his life, he added and claimed that Sanaullah and Hamza were responsible for the incident.
