Singh will be collaborating with director Zoya Ali for the second time after their first film ‘Dil Dhadaknay Do’. However, Singh will be with Alia Bhatt as a couple for the first time on screen.
In a video posted by YRF, Singh was seen rapping along with Mumbai-based rapper Vivian Fernandes also known as ‘Divine’.
The film is based on real-life events of slum rapper Naved Shaikh aka Naezy. When asked how he feels about Ranveer portraying his character, he said, “We’ve worked together before in Hey Bro; he’s a versatile actor. I have no doubts that he can effortlessly play my character in this film.”
The shooting will commence in January 2018. After this Singh will be working on Kabir Khan’s ‘83′ in which he will play the role of cricketing legend Kapil Dev who captained the Indian cricket team to World Cup success in 1983.
I feel honoured and privileged to be part of this film. One of the greatest underdog stories of all time – finally coming to the silver screen. What a day it’s been. To have met our sporting heroes in the flesh and be regaled by their stories – full of nostalgia, humour, emotion…a truly unforgettable event. Im filled with a sense of responsibility and committed to making a film that the entire nation can be proud of. The greatest Indian sports story will now get its deserved cinematic glory! It’s time to #Relive83 may God bless our endeavour. Thank you for this once in a lifetime opportunity @kabirkhankk … lets do this !!!
