As part of its new strategy to deal with the mounting US pressure, Islamabad will hand over the list of wanted terrorists who are using Afghan soil to target Pakistan to the US delegation expected to visit Pakistan next month. The suspended dialogue process between the two countries has been revived after Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan and the US Vice President Pence agreed to continue the process of engagement when the former called on Pence during his visit to the US last week.
The Pakistani authorities will apprise the US delegation of the nefarious nexus between Indian and Afghan intelligence agencies, R&AW and NDS.

Ties between the US and Pakistan have deteriorated ever since the announcement of the new South Asia policy. Pakistan has not only rejected allegations of providing sanctuaries to terrorist outfits but also raised objections on giving India a role in Afghanistan and choosing a military-heavy strategy.
Pakistan will again highlight its counter-terrorism efforts in front of the US delegation. The high officials will impress upon the US as to how effectively Pakistan has dispossessed the terrorists of their sources of strength: mainly territory. Pakistan has asserted time and again that it has acted against miscreants of all hue and color.

While the brazenness of the Taliban continues in Afghanistan in spite of the presence of US and Afghan forces, peace has been restored on the Pakistani side of the border. Last week, cricket stars were in action in the erstwhile hotbed of terrorism, Miranshah. Pakistan has implored the US not to pass the buck of military and political failures in Afghanistan on it.

Ramping-up the campaign against Indian activities inside Pakistan by using the Afghan soil, Islamabad will stress upon Washington to take effective steps in breaking the coalition between NDS and R&AW.

The best way to address Pakistan’s fears is for the US to engage with India in such a way that Pakistan’s security concerns are not stoked up. Disengagement is not an option and something that can only be stopped if both countries hear out each other.
