Shahid Afridi: A savior for the children of Thar

Star cricketer Shahid Afridi has donated 100 million rupees for the construction of a hospital in Thar to the Sindh Government. He presented the cheque to Chairperson Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah. He announced the Shahid Afridi Foundation would construct a 250-bed children’s hospital in Thar.

“The Shahid Afridi foundation will build a 250-bed hospital in the district,” he announced.

 

Shahid Afridi attended the program that was organized to launch the housing scheme at Sehryo for the affected people of Thar Coalfield at Block-II in Sehryo village.

ShahidAfridi speaking on the occasion urged the Pakistan People’s Party Government to include professionals in their team who can effectively resolve the complex problems of the metropolitan city of Karachi. He also congratulated the provincial government for the successful completion of Mai Bakhtawar Airport in Thar.

“Our plans for the city should not be restricted to only disposing trash from the city,” he said.

He, while praising Benazir Bhutto an exemplary leader and woman of courage, urged Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to follow the spirit of his mother in his future politics. He said, youth has high expectations from Bilawal and he has got his full support.

‘Benazir was a brave democratic leader. She is a role model, especially for the women of this country. I have never seen anyone braver than Benazir,’ he said. In conclusion, Shahid Afridi mentioned that soon he will come back to play the cricket with the children of Thar.

ShahidAfridi also met the first Hindu Dalit woman senator from Thar, Krishna Kumari, who was there at the inaugural ceremony of the airport near Islamkot.

Shahid Afridi is not just a celebrity cricketer but is actively following his passion to serve his country. His charity organization Shahid Afridi Foundation has been donating generously.

His foundation recently announced to bear the expenses for the treatment of former Pakistan’s hockey player, Mansoor Ahmed, who is suffering from a heart ailment. Ahmed’s heart is currently working as 20% of the doctors have recommended him to travel abroad for the treatment.

Mansoor Ahmed is remembered for saving the last penalty against New Zealand in 1994 Hockey World cup final. Shahid Afridi has been a vocal supporter for the plight of Kashmiris in the Indian occupied Kashmir as well.
