Toyota is launching the 2022 model of its very popular sedan, Camry. Toyota Camry according to a blog is the automotive equivalent of a balanced breakfast, providing the basics with a few options for flair.
Well, that might be true for the US, where the highest trim, XSE V6 Sedan, is $35,720 (MSRP), but in Pakistan according to the Indus Motors website, the price of the car is Rs. 18,630,000, which according to the exchange rate is around $110,000.
However, we are discussing the US market now, where the ‘bread-and-butter’ family sedan is popular. According to the motortrend blog, other than a mild face-lift for the 2021 model year, the Camry is expected to soldier on mostly unchanged for 2022.
For the features, we will be discussing the Camry Hybrid LE CVT Package, whose starting price is $28,405.
Engine
The midsize car is a 2.5 liters Gas/Electric I-4 engine running on a Hybrid Electric Motor, with 208 horsepower at 5700 rpm, and torque of 163 NM at 5200 rpm.
This car is offered in front-wheel drive with continuously variable transmission (CVT w/OD) including normal, ECO, EV, and Sport drive modes.
Exterior
The car’s exterior comes with dimensions (inches) 192.1×72.4×56.9. The other features include Automatic Highbeams headlights, LED Brakelights in the rear, Auto On/Off Projector Beam, Led Low Beam, Daytime Running Lights, Auto High-Beam Headlamps w/Delay-Off, Gray Grille, Body-Colored Power Side Mirrors w/Manual Folding, among others.
Several Toyota Camry grades are getting a fresh coat of paint, so to speak. The 2022 Camry model year is bringing with it some updates and changes in the exterior, including a color not seen before in many Camry daily drivers for the LE, SE, and XSE trim.
Interior and infotainment
On the inside, there’s ample room for up to five passengers in the Toyota Camry, but trunk space falls on the lower end of the segment at 15.1 cubic feet.
The floating center console is as fetching as any in the industry. The available bright interiors, imitation leather seats, and the wide use of soft-touch materials combine to form an upscale look.
On the infotainment side, it has a 7″ touchscreen, 6 speakers, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa compatible, USB media port, USB charge port, hands-free phone capability and music streaming via Bluetooth wireless technology, SiriusXM w/3-month All Access trial, and Connected Services including Safety Connect w/1-year trial, Wi-Fi Connect w/up to 2 GB within 3-month trial and voice command.
Safety
Standard safety features are impressive on the Camry. For 2022, expect the usual list, it has a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high-beams, road sign assist, and adaptive cruise control.
There should also be a standard lane tracing assist, which uses the lines on the road to keep the vehicle centered in its lane.
