Watch: Aitzaz Ahsan makes heavy accusations on acquittal of Sharif family

While talking about the acquittal of PML-N leaders, Aitzaz Ahsan made heavy accusations against COAS Bajwa.

Senior barrister and PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan has accused Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Bajwa of allegedly facilitating the acquittal of the Sharif family.

While talking to the media, Aitzaz Ahsan – who is known for making hard-hitting statements – made a direct hit on the COAS. Aitzaz Ahsan said COAS Bajwa removed the charges against PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, and Maryam Nawaz, even though the charges were very clear.

“Bajwa has committed a huge crime by letting them go,” Aitzaz Ahsan said while not holding back. Aitzaz Ahsan also said that he believes that all this is happening because of the recent NAB amendments.

To clarify, the NAB amendments are being considered an NRO-2 for political leaders who have corruption charges leveled against them since the amendments aim to clip the wings of the National Accountability Bureau by proposing, for instance, that all corruption cases involving an amount below Rs 500 million would not come in its purview.

“The NAB ordinance has been used only for political engineering,” Aitzaz Ahsan added.

Needless to say, Aitzaz Ahsan’s statement is going viral on social media due to the direct attack on COAS Bajwa. Pertinent to mention that the Pakistan Army has urged politicians on multiple occasions to not drag the army into political matters. Moreover, COAS Bajwa himself said that the armed forces have distanced themselves from politics and want to remain so.

Acquittal of PML-N

Recently, PML-N has faced many legal victories, for instance, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz was acquitted in the Avenfield Case. Her passport was also returned after almost four years and she is now in London.

Similarly, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal was also declared innocent in the Narowal Sports City reference. Important to note that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed the NAB reference against Ahsan Iqbal and even criticized the then NAB Chairman for filing the reference on the basis of a news item published by a little-known newspaper.
