What is new in Toyota Corolla GR 2022

Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) showcased its newly released Corolla GR for the first time in California, USA.

After the success and achievements of TE25 Corolla in 1973 and Corolla Levin in 1975 in the field of motorsports, the company has laid the foundations of TGRs. The new model is scheduled to launch in the second half of this year i.e. 2022 in Japan.

The company has taken the initiative of GR Corolla cars in order to make better motorsports-bred cars, which could focus on enhancing the quality of cars and their driving performance to win races and make them commercially accessible.

Main features of the GR Corolla

The new corolla GR comes with distinguishing features and a functional beauty exterior. The basic body framework consists of 20 mm wider front fenders and 30 mm wider rear fenders and the triple exhausts with an output of the 1.6-liter in-line three-cylinder intercooler turbo engine help in a unique driving experience.

Moreover, the new model was comprehensively examined in extreme racing environments by using hydrogen engines in the vehicle and prototypes on racing circuits and snow-covered roads to ensure confidence and adventure while driving. The Corolla GR comprises a 60 mm wider track upfront and an 85 mm wider track in the rear to ensure a high level of cornering performance.  The new model comes with a five-door, five-passenger layout for both exceptional usability in daily life and the desire for sports driving.

Additionally, a short-stroke shift lever placed for lowering the arm and quick gear changes is also one of the best interior designs of the model. Likely, a hand-operated parking brake allows better vehicle control even when pushing the car to its limits and while drifting.

Furthermore, the engine exhaust efficiency of the model is improved by a valve-equipped triple-exhaust muffler that reduces both exhaust pressure and noise.  A selectable mode of GR-FOUR 4WD system uses an electronic multi-plate clutch to provide variable front and rear driving force while driving. In order to ensure an optimal distribution of driving force to the road surface pillow-ball bushings, optimizing springs, shock absorbers, and wheel alignment is featured in Corolla GR.
