TikTok has been storming the internet in the sub-continent because of the variety of content it contains, but it is more than just a video sharing app. It just helped reunite a wife with her husband in India.
In a larger than life story that emerged from the Indian province of Tamil Nadu, a wife was able to find her husband and bring her home after he appeared in a TikTok video. The man had been missing for 3 years.
Suresh, a native of Krishnagiri was married to Jayapradha and the couple had two children. However, the couple ran into domestic issues leading Suresh to abandon his family to flee to Hosur in 2016. The wife, Jayapradha consulted friends and family before informing the police. However, despite registering an FIR the police failed to find him.
In Hosur, Suresh worked as a mechanic and all but lead a new life. He was also allegedly having an affair with a transwoman who appeared in the TikTok video beside him.
Suresh was spotted in the TikTok video by a relative of his wife. When jayapradha saw the video, she immediately confirmed that the man in the video was indeed her husband. She alerted the police immediately.
However, the cruelest twist of fate came when the police tracked Suresh down with the help of a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that works for the welfare of transpeople. With the NGO’s help they tracked down the woman Suresh was having an affair with and ultimately to him.
The police helped then brought Suresh back to his wife and children after a long absence. The police also said that they had counselled the couple to ensure they could resume their lives without any problems.
