Pak-UAE economic partnership: PM Khan continues successful trend

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai received Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and his accompanying delegation, while they currently visited the country.

Prime Minister Imran Khan was on a one-day trip to the UAE to meet his counterpart to discuss bilateral relations, strengthen ties and sign trade agreements. PM Khan was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak and Chief of Army Staff Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa. Also present in the meeting were Minister of Finance Asad Umar; Minister of Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan and Minister of Energy Omar Ayub Khan, along with the Pakistani Ambassador to the UAE, Moazzam Ahmad Khan.

The prime minister also visited Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the Martyrs’ Memorial where he paid homage to Emirati heroes, who had sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation. 

The meeting, which took place at Za’abeel Palace, addressed ways of intensifying cooperation between the two friendly countries for mutual national interests, with the two leaders exchanging views on a number of issues of common interest.

The UAE prime minister issued a statement in Urdu through his official Twitter account to welcome Imran Khan to the Gulf state. “We cherish our rich history of bilateral ties [with Pakistan] based on brotherhood and trade,” the UAE premier said.

The prime minister also visited Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the Martyrs’ Memorial where he paid homage to Emirati heroes, who had sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation. Expressing satisfaction at the positive trajectory of relations, the two leaders agreed to take immediate measures to further elevate their historic partnership.

They expressed satisfaction over the fruitful outcome of the recent visit of a high-level UAE economic delegation to Pakistan and reiterated their resolve to transform the existing special relations into a Strategic Long-Term Economic Partnership by adopting a direct, transparent, and time-bound approach.

UAE and Ruler of Dubai received Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and his accompanying delegation, while they currently visited the country.

The two sides agreed to chalk out a comprehensive road-map to accelerate cooperation and partnership in areas encompassing trade, investment, economic development, energy, infrastructure and agriculture., with a view to accrue early dividends from the economic partnership. Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. The countries have pledged to improve cooperation to stop money laundering and human trafficking.

Attending the meeting were Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State; Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director-General of the Dubai Protocol and Hospitality Department; and Hamad Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan.

Khan’s meeting with Sheikh Mohammed is a part of his second trip to the UAE which began early on Sunday, 18th November. In the morning, Khan was received by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi
