Babar breaks another Kohli’s record to become the fastest Asian batter to score 10000 runs

Babar is the eleventh Pakistani batter to score 10000 runs in international cricket

Pakistan’s captain of all three formats, Babar Azam achieved another milestone by becoming the fastest Asian batter to score 10000 runs in international cricket.

He has broken the previous record held by Indian former captain Virat Kohli, who scored 10000 runs in 232 innings. Babar reached to the milestone in 228 innings.

He also broke the record of Pakistan’s former captain and prolific batsman Javed Miandad, who had achieved the milestone in his 248th innings and became the fastest Pakistani batter to hit the mark.

Babar is the fifth fastest batsman in international cricket history to reach the milestone in 228 innings, after Joe Root (228 innings), Hashim Amla (217 innings), Brian Lara (220 innings), and Viv Richards (206 innings).

At the Galle International Stadium during the first Test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Babar scored an undefeated 119 from 244 balls to reach the milestone. He is the eleventh Pakistani batter to score 10000 runs in international cricket after Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Mohammad Yusuf, Javed Miandad, Saleem Malik, Saeed Anwar, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, and Misbah-ul-Haq.

Azam has scored 4,442 ODI runs at 59.22, courtesy of 17 centuries and 19 half-centuries, whereas he also has 2686 T20I runs under his belt and 3025 runs with an average of 47.26 in test cricket.
