Mohammad Rizwan, a wicketkeeper-batsman for Pakistan, has suffered an injury to his right knee and has been sent for scans. On September 4, he played a key role in his team’s exciting triumph over India in the Asia Cup Super Four stage at the Dubai International Stadium.

The medical staff will decide if Rizwan can continue competing in the competition after getting his report.

When Rizwan stumbled while attempting to collect a bouncer from Mohammad Hasnain that was high above his head in the 15th over of the India innings, he was hurt.

The Pakistani physiotherapist immediately went to the ground to treat Rizwan since he was in pain. Rizwan continued to bat and provided a key contribution for Pakistan despite the pain and discomfort, serving as the main planner in the run chase with a 51-ball 71.

Pakistanis hailed Rizwan for his firm resolve in the fight against India.

In their starting lineup, Pakistan does not have a specialised wicketkeeper. In Rizwan’s absence, Khushdil Shah and Fakhar Zaman are capable, although they are not subject-matter specialists. A potential backup is Mohammad Haris, who went to the Netherlands with the team. However, Haris is not a part of the group that will compete in the future event as Asia’s representative. If Rizwan was unable to play, Haris would need to be sent to Dubai in his stead.

With 192 runs, including two half-toms in three games, Rizwan leads the Asia Cup in run scoring this year. Since the beginning of 2021, he has scored 1,521 T20I runs, which is the most of any player in men’s T20Is.

Mohammad Wasim, Shahnawaz Dahani, and speed spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi have all missed Pakistan’s Asia Cup campaign due to injuries. Shaheen Shah Afridi was already out before the competition.

Afghanistan and Pakistan will square off in Sharjah on September 7.
