Aamir Khan: Hindutva trolls call Junaid Jamshed, Tariq Jameel LeT activists in viral image

Bollywood star Aamir Khan continues to pay price for being a Muslim celebrity in Modi's India. In latest onslaught on Indian social media, Hindutva trolls have accused him of meeting with Lashkar-i-Taiba activists. In reality Amir Khan had met Maulana Tariq Jameel, Shahid Afridi and singer Junaid Jamshed.

The online trolls misquoted the picture of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan with Junaid Jamshed and Maulana Tariq Jameel to disparage the actor.

In the latest onslaught against Bollywood actor Aamir Khan on Indian social media, the Hindutva and nationalist trolls have accused the actor of meeting with Lashkar-i-Taiba activists. The Indian bullies circulated the images of Aamir Khan with Pakistani singer Junaid Jamshed and Maulana Tariq Jameel.

The latest vitriol is part of the ongoing bout of hate campaign against Bollywood actor Aamir Khan after that aroused after he met Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan in Turkey last week.

The propagandists misquoted the two renowned Pakistani figures as Lashkar-e-Taiba activists.

Hence, triggering a whirlwind of criticism against Aamir Khan on social media. Originally, the pictures are from the time when actor Aamir Khan traveled to Saudi Arabia for Hajj where he met Pakistani singer-turned-preacher Junaid Jamshed and religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel. The pictures were taken back in 2012.

A score of Indian social media picked up on the fake propaganda against Aamir Khan and circulated the image with an unfounded claim that he is standing and mingling up with Lashkar-e-Taiba activists.

Hence, an Indian media outlet verified the spurious claims and debunked the false claims against Aamir Khan. A report published in the Indian media outlet, that the Pakistani figures are late singer Junaid Jamshed and preacher Maulana Tariq Jameel. Moreover, it also corrected the name of Junaid Jamshed which was wrongly quoted by the propagandist Junaid Samshed.

The report said that the viral picture originally appeared in the English daily Express Tribune in 2016 in the article on the reaction of Aamir Khan on Junaid Jamshed’s demise in a plane crash in December of that year. The report said that Hindutva propagandists misidentified Junaid Jamshed as a terrorist when he was a Pakistani pop singer.

The Indian media outlet also shared a video of Junaid Jamshed in which he recounted his meeting with Aamir Khan on Hajj.

They said upon further research they found that Pakistani daily Dawn also had published the image and even Junaid Jamshed had also posted the same image on his Facebook account. The Indian media reports also shared the video of Maulana Tariq Jameel explaining his meeting with Aamir Khan and how former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi arranged the meeting.

Propaganda against Aamir Khan

Earlier,  Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut also shared a fake interview with Aamir Khan from an unidentified source on her social media platform. The fake interview quoted Aamir Khan talking about Islam. In her tweet, Kangana claimed that “Aamir is an extremist and despite his wife being a Hindu, his children would only follow Islam”.

However, later it was revealed that the interview was fake since Aamir Khan had given no such interview.

Aamir Khan – Zakir Naik

In another viral piece on Indian social media, the author has unabatedly disparaged Aamir Khan, likening him to controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik. The writer says Aamir Khan is as dangerous as Zakir Naik. Moreover, a morphed image of actor Aamir Khan with Zakir Naik has been circulating on social media.

For days, Aamir Khan is being subjected to intense backlash and criticism. A few excerpts from the viral blog read, that Aamir Khan is a “very intelligent operator.” It starts by saying that Khan first won the likes of the audiences by making “super-patriotic movies like Sarfarosh, Lagaan and Mangal Pandey and gained the acceptance and trust of patriotic Indians.”

Then the blog claims that later Aamir Khan started “inserting his agenda into his movies.” The author refers to the movie Rang De Basanti in which Aamir Khan played a lead role. The author claims that “everyone who saw it [movie] hated George Fernandes and the BJP govt for making a quick buck from corruption in defense deals.”

The movie was based on the real-life story of Indian Air Force Pilot Flt Lt Abhijit Gadgil who died after in a MiG-21 crash. Following the incident, the investigations began into the startling rate of fatal accidents with the MiG aircraft.

The author also mentioned Aamir Khan’s movie PK- that according to the author is “Hinduphobic movie ever made” because the movie made “jokes on our own Gods.”  However, this is not the first movie of this kind, earlier movie OH MY GOD featuring Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar also questioned the concept of Hinduism.

Moreover, there is no mention of Zakir Naik in the entire article who fled India after the Dhaka blast of July 2016 and is allegedly under serious allegation.
