Armeena Khan outraged over Sheikh Rasheed’s derogatory remarks on entertainers

News Desk |

The Pakistani actress Armeena Khan has called out the politician and head of Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rasheed for passing derogatory remarks on the people of the entertainment industry, on a live television program.

Armeena Khan, besides a skilled actress, is a proactive humanitarian worker, who recently travelled to Jordan to distribute aid and charity among the Syrian refugees.

She expressed her ire on Twitter and lashed out at Sheikh Rasheed. The actress wrote: “Who is this man? Why is he using such abusive language against the film industry?”

In the latter part of her tweet, she questioned how the television authorities and PEMRA allowed the broadcasting of such obscene statements.

“Why is such obscene language allowed on mainstream television?” she wrote on Twitter.

She added, “I am embarrassed for this man. I mean, how do you just sit there and make such statements without realizing their wider ramifications? Is he educated? What background does he come from?” She then lamented that people like Sheikh Rasheed are their leaders.

“I am embarrassed FOR this man. I mean, how do you just sit there and make such statements without realizing their wider ramifications. It chills me to the bone. I mean is he educated? What background does he come from? In the UK, he wouldn’t be allowed anywhere near public office,” she said in another tweet.

Reham Khan joined Armeena Khan and demanded the Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar to take notice of Shiekh’s derogatory remarks. She wrote: “He clearly has not had a good upbringing. The poor man was left unsupervised in his childhood – he says clearly in this clip. Smoking up with a prostitute as a young lad he says.”

Armeena Khan and Reham Khan are known for their strong stance on social issues. Armeena Khan, besides a skilled actress, is a proactive humanitarian worker, who recently travelled to Jordan to distribute aid and charity among the Syrian refugees.
