In an alarming development, a beggar girl was allegedly kidnapped and then gang-raped by unknown men in Lahore.
According to the details, the girl was begging in Lahore’s Sundar area when she was kidnapped. She was later raped in Haveli Lakha. The accused also kidnapped her six-year-old son.
The girl somehow managed to escape and reached the police station. Meanwhile, the six-year-old boy was still with the kidnappers. The victim lodged a First Information Report (FIR) in the local police station against four named accused and two unknown accused.
In a bid to capture the rapist, the police are conducting raids, however, no new developments have been made.
Rape cases in Pakistan
Pakistan is no stranger to rape. Harrowing incidents of rape continue to rise. According to a report by an NGO called Sahil, a total of 2,211 cases of child abuse were reported across the country in the first six months of 2022.
Meanwhile, research by the Sustainable Social Development Organisation (SSDO) and the Centre for Research, Development and Communication (CRDC) stated that at least 136 women were kidnapped and 71 raped while 114 cases of sexual abuse of children were reported across Pakistan in the month of August alone.
Earlier, law enforcers in Lahore arrested two cops for the assault and rape attempt on a woman in the Defence area. The victim told cops that two constables of Punjab Police tried to molest her while she was returning from work along with her co-worker.

In another incident, a girl was allegedly raped by an armed man in a village within the jurisdiction of Saddar police station in Punjab’s Layyah district. The girl, in her statement, said the police were deliberately delaying the arrest of the accused.
Separately, a girl was gang-raped and tortured in Layyah. The accused also shot the footage of the gruesome incident. Police said that seven suspects were nominated in the case.
