Perhaps, Federal Minister for Water Resources, Faisal Vawda, has mastered the art of racking up public attention for all the wrong reasons during his ongoing tenure.
Since yesterday he is in the news for flashing ‘military boot’ in a live TV show at opposition members of PPP and PML-N ridiculing them for their unconditional support for Army Act Amendment Bill while disparaging the ruling party, PTI as the stooge of Establishment all this while.
However, this is not the first time Faisal Vawda has made to the headlines for bizarre antics. Below are mentioned incidence when federal minister attracted mockery on social media.
Heroic entry at Chinese Embassy in Karachi
Pakistan’s Tehreek-I-Insaf’s Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda evoked an interesting discussion on social media yesterday for his heroic entry at the site of a terror attack. Faisal Vawda was spotted along with the Police wearing a bullet-resistant vest and a gun in hand.
The video of Faisal Vawda created a frenzy on social media. He was seen along with the Police force on the site of the attack and seemed prepared to take part in the operation against the terrorists.
Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar once threatened to end the alliance with PTI if they did not rein in their federal minister Faisal Vawda
His heroic act, however, did not go well with the Twitterati. The video stirred an onslaught of criticism on Faisal Vawda. The federal minister’s act was called irresponsible and many called it was done purely to gain traction.
Others believe, reaching the site of the attack to take a part in the operation transcended his domain of authority as a Federal Minister for Water. Faisal Vawda was mocked, trolled, and became a subject of hilarious memes on social media.
Faisal Vawda’s claims on the creation of jobs
The Federal Minister for Water Resources attracted mockery on social media when he made a hefty claim on the creation of jobs in Pakistan, in Hamid Mir’s TV talk show last year.
The federal minister to deflect criticism on the economic turndown and rising unemployment made a baffling assertion that within weeks Pakistan will witness a swarm of job opportunities that the number of jobs will surpass the number of job seekers in Pakistan.
Vawda said, “whether you talk about the stock exchange, property, industry or even the media, where people are being fired with the onus placed on the government, there will be many jobs and I am urging the owners not to fire people.”
He also said, “We have to put up with the inflation and poor economy because we have no choice. It was passed on to us from the previous governments. We have to take loans to pay off interest left behind for us. But we can offer an incentive to make it easier for the public to bear the inflation.”
Reportedly, PM Khan bashed and reprimanded Faisal Vawda, personally after he reached Line of Control and had himself photographed with the rubble of downed Indian fighter Jet last year in February. His stunt was not taken well in the party. PM Khan schooled him to concentrate on his performance and ministry.
Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar
Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar once threatened to end the alliance with PTI if they did not rein in their federal minister Faisal Vawda who irks members of coalition parties with continuous slanders and disrespectful verbal assaults.
“Your [PTI] prime minister came from MQM votes and if you cannot control this federal minister [Faisal Vawda], then we will think of something. We will consider separating from you [PTI] if you cannot control what your federal minister says … he is an unguided missile. He is very immature and doesn’t know politics,” Waseem Akhtar while expressing annoyance.
