Fortuner G: New affordable addition to Toyota Pakistan family

Toyota Indus Motors launched a new variant of Fortuner at a lower price but with few features that are not at par with previous variants. Toyota Pakistan has been under criticism recently for increased prices and faulty designs.

Toyota Indus Motor launched a new variant of its compact SUV Fortuner named Fortuner G – 2.7 liters on 1st January 2020.

The variant is equipped with a 2.7-liter engine mated to a 6-speed sequential transmission with paddle shifters. The price of Fortuner G is PKR7,299,000 that is comparatively less than its previous variants.

Currently, Toyota Fortuner is available in two variants in markets-Fortuner 2.7 VVTi (Petrol) PKR 7,999,000/ and Fortuner 2.8 Sigma 4 (Diesel) PKR 8,649,000/. It has been labeled as Urban Icon by the manufacturers.

Some of its features are Smart-Entry with Push Start, Dual Air-conditioner (Front & Rear), Cruise Control, 3rd Row Seats, Safety Airbags and 6-Speed Sequential Transmission with Paddle Shifters.

Fortuner G is regarded as base variants since it is at a lower price and has fewer features than the existing variants.

For instance, the seat material and door trim of Fortuner G is available in premium brown fabric but it comes in leather seating in the other variants of Fortuner.

The seat adjustment is manual in Toyota Fortuner G and powered in 2.7 VVTi. The headlamps and foglamps of Fortuner G have halogen lamps but 2.7 VVTi has LED headlamps. Auto leveling of headlamps is missing in Fortuner G, unlike the existing variants.

 

Fortuner G has 17-inch alloy rims compared to an 18-inch rim of 2.7 VVTi.

Moreover, Toyota Indus Motors is expected to introduce a new variant of its popular 1.8-liter Altis Grande line-up, named Altis Grande X in Pakistan. The model was earlier released in Taiwan in 2017. The car had a sporty body kit with front and back lip side skirts air vent in the front and a shark fin antenna.

The reports are circulating that the company may introduce the new model in early 2020. The car will be a new variant of Toyota Corolla Altis CVT -i 1.8. The new model is anticipated to have a slight modification in the design of its front and rear bumpers. Moreover, the addition of X Emblem just below the right backlight in Altis Grande X is different from the other two variants.
