High-level appointments in Pak Army

Pakistan Army has announced posting and transfers on key positions on Tuesday. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed has been appointed Adjutant General of Pakistan Army at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

Lieutenant General Azhar Abbas has been appointed as the Director General Joint Staff, Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood as IG Communication & Information Technology while Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza will continue to serve as the Vice Chief of General Staff.

All four officers will be amongst the senior most officers when new COAS will be appointed in Nov 2022.

Also, Lieutenant General Adnan has been appointed Commander Bahawalpur Corps.

Earlier, on April 12, Lt Gen Faiz Hameed, Lt Gen Azhar Abbas, Lt Gen Nauman Mahmood and Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza were promoted from major general to their existing ranks as Lt. Generals. On Tuesday, the ISPR made announcement about their appointments.

Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed has served as Director General Counter Intelligence (DGC) and Lt. Gen. Nauman Mahmood has previously served as Director General Analysis (DGA). All four officers will be amongst the senior most officers when new COAS will be appointed in Nov 2022.
