Imran Khan’s Charm: Indian media could not resist praising Prime Minister

In the midst of intense diatribe of criticism from the arch-rival Indian media on PM Khan, a section of praised PM Khan for setting an instance for other leaders to follow. His impassioned speech on Kashmir issue and Islamophobia is catching the world’s attention

Where traditional Indian media is going haywire on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s successful maiden trip to United Nations General Assembly, and his vehement campaign against BJP-led Narendra Modi’s government at the world’s prestigious forum, a section of Indian media is praising Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The sensationalism in Indian media has surged to the point where they disparaged PM Khan’s act of counting the prayer bead in the joint presser with President Donald Trump. A published article described the frantic effort of PM Khan to ward off an impression as the leader of the Islamic world in the aftermath of the Kashmir move by the Narendra Modi government.

Indian Media Praise

Nevertheless, India’s popular news outlet India Today recently published an article on PM Khan’s austerity drive and his low-key visit to the USA and the preceding visit to Saudi Arabia. While PM Khan was mocked and berated by Indian Twitter users for boarding a commercial flight to Saudi Arabia, and that Pakistan cannot afford a special aircraft for its premiere, the published article, however, argued that even Indian politicians should emulate PM Khan’s austerity measures.

Prime Minister Imran Khan is immensely capitalizing on the opportunity to apprise the world with massive human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

The article noted that PM Khan’s austerity measures intended to pull down the pressure on the country’s resources as Pakistan is dwindling with the severe economic crisis, India politicians should mull over reducing their cost of living since Indian economy is also undergoing a crisis.

“Imran Khan had told his cabinet earlier this year that he would lead by example to make his austerity drive effective,” said the article.

“His austerity drive might be emulated by politicians in India, which too is facing some serious economic issues. The economic growth rate is slowing down, unemployment is at a record high, prices in retail markets are soaring, and massive job loss is staring in many sectors of the economy,” commented the article on the Indian economy.

Prime Minister Imran Khan is immensely capitalizing on the opportunity to apprise the world with massive human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir. Declared himself the ambassador of Kashmir, he has engaged with several world leaders on Kashmir cause.

His proactive diplomacy on Kashmir issue bore the results when Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his UNGA speech raised its voice for the atrocities in IOK. President Erdogan slammed the Indian government and demanded to uplift the siege and resume communication in the valley.

Even Malaysia has also joint Pakistan in urging India to resolve the Kashmir issue as per the resolutions of the United Nations.

In his meeting with the Wall Street Journal, PM Khan asserted that he has especially come to New York for Kashmir, while everything else is secondary. He is repeatedly warning the world of a possible war-like situation between India and Pakistan if Kashmir issue does not get a peaceful resolution.

The Times Square in New York lit up screen advertisement with Free Kashmir slogans, a message highlighting the atrocities in Kashmir making it a global concern. The netizens have hailed the relentless speeches of Prime Minister Imran Khan on the Kashmir issue, which has made it a global phenomenon.

In the new set of development, UK’s Labour Party has passed a resolution on Kashmir calling in for the international intervention in Kashmir and urging the United Nations to conduct a referendum in the IOK, a similar demand of Pakistan and PM Khan.

“Crucially, it calls on the Labour Party, the government in waiting, to clearly and vocally support the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and for international observers to be sent to the region immediately. The resolution also calls for an intervention of the party at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC),” it read.

Robust stance on Islamophobia

Moreover, Prime Minister Imran Khan’s bold and clear stance on Islamophobia and hate sentiments against Muslims is earning him praise. Prime Minister Imran Khan unabatedly took a jibe at the western world for not respecting the sentiments of Muslims, and their repeated blasphemous content on Holy Prophet PBUH, the issue he raised in the meeting with NZ PM Jacinda Ardern.

The prime minister attended a high-level, round table discussion on ‘Countering Hate Speech‘ co-hosted by Pakistan and Turkey, according to a media report.

“President Erdogan, PM Mahatir and myself had a meeting today in which we decided our 3 countries would jointly start an English language channel dedicated to confronting the challenges posed by Islamophobia and setting the record straight on our great religion – Islam,” Mr. Khan said in a tweet.

“Misperceptions which bring people together against Muslims would be corrected; the issue of blasphemy would be properly contextualized; series and films would be produced on Muslim history to educate/inform our people and the world; Muslims would be given a dedicated media presence,” he said.

In his address to the United Nations meeting on Control of Hate Speech, PM Khan unnerved challenged the perception of associating Islam with terrorism, while overlooking the connection of Hinduism to religious extremism and suicide bombing. He asserted that before 9/11 nearly Tamil Tigers carried out 70% of the suicide bombing. He highlighted the injustices inflicted on the Muslim population merely on the perception of terrorism.
