Imran Khan’s mother taxed 38 years after death?

PTI Chairman Imran Khan's mother Shaukat Khanum passed away due to cancer in 1985.

PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has received a tax notice in the name of his mother Shaukat Khanum who passed away 38 years ago.

According to the details, the Excise and Taxation Department sent a luxury house tax notice to Imran Khan, which was addressed to his mother Shaukat Khanum.

The PTI Chief is required to pay a tax of Rs 36 lacs and also provide information on the property within seven days of receiving the notice. The tax department has also warned that failure to do will result in a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Interestingly, the tax notice addressed to Imran Khan’s late mother is going viral on social media, as netizens criticize the government authorities for taxing Shaukat Khanum 38 years after her death.

“Imported governments and their handlers are reaching new lows every day. It has been 28 [38] years since the death of Shaukat Khanum Sahiba and today an excise notice was issued in her name,” PTI social media lead Azhar Mashwani said.

“No one learns to fall into the abyss from an imported troupe. More than two decades have passed since Shaukat Khanum Sahiba’s death and now tax notices are being issued in her name,” Imran Khan’s political secretary Hafiz Farhat Abbas said.

As netizens condemn the tax notice addressed to Imran Khan’s late mother, some netizens have sent donations to Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital in response, and are urging others to do the same.

“We will reply to this PDM’s inhuman act by more Zakat and Donations to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital. Let’s contribute to the hospital,” Adnan Zaheer Khawaja said.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s mother Shaukat Khanum passed away due to cancer in 1985. Imran Khan’s inspiration for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre came after his mother passed away. Since then, the hospital has been providing free medical attention to Pakistanis suffering from cancer.
