Lahore donates 200m to Shaukat Khanum

SKMT Chairman Imran Khan says cancer treatment at SKMCH is ten times cheaper than abroad.

Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust Chairman Imran Khan has said the cancer treatment at SKMCH is ten times cheaper than abroad.

He made these remarks while addressing the gathering at SKMCH’s second fund-raising Iftar dinner at Expo Centre in Lahore on Thursday.

He said, “As much as SKMCH provides free treatment to poor cancer patients, the paying patients too are getting international standard cancer treatment at the hospital 10 times less than the cost of treatment for similar level of treatment in UK, US and Europe.”

More than 200 million rupees were generated on occasion.

Imran Khan said that Shaukat Khanum Hospital is a tribute to the generosity of Pakistanis.

He said it is the only cancer hospital globally that provides free-of-cost treatment to 75 percent of patients.

Imran Khan said that Pakistanis have so far donated 63 billion rupees for Shaukat Khanum.

Khan even addressed the Shaukat Khanum Fundraising Ceremony in Islamabad as his last public engagement on Saturday. The former government led by Khan introduced health cards to provide health coverage. It offered free treatment to every family for up to one million.

Khan said it was a step towards making “Riyasat-e-Madinah,” which is based on humanity, justice, and self-respect, and soon, Pakistan would be one of the great nations.
