Imran, Shehbaz’s wives richer; Bilawal declared billionaire

Bushra Bibi’s net worth is Rs142.11m, while Shehbaz’s first wife owns wealth worth Rs230.29m. Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is a billionaire with Rs1.6bn worth.

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the spouses of both Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his predecessor, Imran Khan, are richer than their husbands.

It has been revealed in ECP’s statements of assets filed for the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2020.

Imran Khan

Apart from his 300-kanal villa in Bani Gala, Imran Khan owns five other properties. Along with inherited properties, including a house in Lahore’s Zaman Park, he owns 600 acres of farm land as well as non-agricultural land. He also possess four goats worth Rs200,000.

Apart from over Rs60 million in bank accounts, he also has $329,196 and 518 pound sterlings in Pakistani foreign currency accounts.

However, he doesn’t own a vehicle nor property outside Pakistan, does not have any investment.

Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi’s net worth is Rs142.11m. Including a house in Banigala, she owns four properties.

Shehbaz Sharif

Shehbaz Sharif has wealth worth Rs104.21m with a liability of Rs141.78m. Moreover, he possesses 495 kanals of agricultural land in Lahore and Sheikhupura. Shehbaz also owns two houses each in Murree and Lahore, while his London residence is worth around Rs137.43m.

Shehbaz also possesses two vehicles and has investments in the country. He has been maintaining about Rs20m in bank accounts for several years.

His first wife, Nusrat Shehbaz is also richer than her husband, with wealth worth Rs230.29m.

She owns nine agricultural properties and two houses, one in Lahore and the other in Hazara divisions. She has invested in various sectors, but like Bushra Bibi does not own a vehicle.

Tehmina Durrani, the second wife of the incumbent PM, has maintained her wealth worth about Rs5.76m for several years. She also owns the same car for the last couple of years.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is among the declared billionaires, with Rs1.6bn worth wealth.

However, the bulk of his wealth remains outside the country. He has more arrests in the UAE than he has in Pakistan.

In Dubai, Bilawal has assets worth Rs1.44bn which include 25 properties, whereas in the country he has 19 agriculture and non-agriculture properties.

PPP chairperson has around Rs122.14m cash in hand or bank accounts and arms valued at Rs3m.

Asif Ali Zardari

Asif Ali Zardari seems to have trimmed his wealth holdings as his Dubai property was not mentioned in the statement.

In 2019-20, his wealth increased by around Rs40m to Rs714.23m as compared to the previous year.

He also owns thousands of acres of agricultural land, along with 20 horses, hundreds of camels, cows and buffaloes as well as other valuables. Zardari also possesses arms worth Rs16.6m.

Rana Sanaullah

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has 13 properties in the country worth Rs98m. The PML-N leader owns one vehicle valued at Rs7.5m, along with around Rs16m cash in hand or in bank accounts.

Sanaullah’s wife possesses 100 tolas of gold.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi

Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and his wife own two houses in Islamabad along with 40 tolas of gold.

Abbasi gifted his Air Blue airline shares worth Rs60m to his son.
