India makes pop songs about settling with fair Kashmiri girls

India’s pop music has become the pawn in justifying the revocation of special status of Jammu Kashmir by the BJP-led Hindu nationalist government in India. Within hours following the abrogation of the Article 370 and 35-A, several videos of pop songs hit the internet, hailing India’s violation of international treaties on the special status of Kashmir.

Patriotism pop

Claiming it the triumph of India’s government the songs rejoiced the forced inclusion of Jammu Kashmir in India’s territory. The abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A has dissolved the restrictions for Indians to buy property in Jammu Kashmir, bringing the opportunity at the disposal of the millions of Hindus to flood the valley.

The released songs on the YouTube fantasized the listeners with the idea of settling the Hindu population in Kashmir after marrying fair Kashmiri women. This growing trend has come to be defined as ‘Patriotism Pop’, which boasts India’s nationalism and the country’s burgeoning right-wing ideology.

Earlier, pop music propagated the jingoistic values of hoisting Indian flag on every household in India and inflicting a crushing defeat to arch-rival Pakistan. With the addition of Kashmir, songs now woo listeners with the idea of settling in the mesmerising Kashmir valley in the Himalayan region.

The patriotic songs were shared widely on the social media applications of Facebook, Twitter, and Tik-Tok. Despite their low production values, poorly-matched lip-synching and repetitive techno beat, many of these soundtracks have gotten millions of hits on YouTube. The songs have a wide fan-base in northern and eastern parts of India, with the trend anticipated to flourish in future.

Scores of the producers of the song are the admirer of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and claim it their service to him and the nation. One of the songwriters asserted that it is the dream of every Indian man to marry fair beautiful Kashmiri girl.

India’s revocation of special status Kashmir exposed Indian men’s uncontrollable desire for fair Kashmir women. The idea first boosted by BJP leader Vikram Siani.

A dangerous trend of altering the demography of the Kashmir valley, wiping off Muslim population and turning them into a religious and ethnic minority in their home ground, has been identified by Prime Minister Imran Khan repeatedly.

India’s revocation of special status Kashmir exposed Indian men’s uncontrollable desire for fair Kashmir women. The idea first boosted by BJP leader Vikram Siani.

The BJP legislator passed a misogynistic statement on Kashmiri women in his speech addressing his party members on the significance of the revoking of Article 370 and 35-A. Listing the benefits of repealing the Jammu Kashmir’s autonomous status to the Indians, Vikram Siani BJP MLA from UP, wooed Indian men with a dream of having a fair Kashmiri bride.

The BJP Legislator’s Statement

“With the government’s Kashmir decision, BJP workers could now go there, buy plots of land and get married,” his bizarre statement came while he was addressing a function at Muzaffarnagar to celebrate the move.

BJP’s Siani himself seems to be drooling on having a Kashmiri girl, added that “The workers are very excited and those who are bachelors can get married. There is no issue now.”

He presumed that Kashmiri women would be happy marrying a man from other Indian states. He stated, “Earlier, there was a lot of atrocities on women. If a woman from IOK got married to a man from Uttar Pradesh, her citizenship would be revoked. There was different citizenship for India and IOK,” the lawmaker said.

The BJP legislator was caught on camera passing patriarchal remarks that garnered him the wrath of the social media users. The netizens rebuffed him for downplaying the atrociousness of India’s move against Kashmir.

The unrepentant lawmaker despite severe dissension on social media defended his statement stating that there is nothing ‘objectionable’ in it.

“Now anyone can get married to a Kashmiri girl without any issue. That is all I said and it is the truth. This is freedom for the people of IOK. That is why we organized the event. Now, Kashmiris have attained freedom,” Vikram Saini said.

Desperation for Kashmiri Women

Several Indian social media users also shared the misogynistic outlook of BJP legislature stating that now they have the right to everything and anything that is Kashmiri including Kashmiri women.

Google’s trends in the past few days testify the desperation of Indian men to possess fair Kashmiri girls. Stats show that a huge amount of Indian men extensively looked for Kashmiri girls on the search engine. And Kerala seems to be topping the list. Followed by Gujrat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.

As per real-time Google trends in India, the Indian men are searching for buying property in Kashmir and marrying the Kashmiri girls.
