Mamnoon Hussain urges youth to reap the fruits of CPEC

President Mamnoon Hussain has proclaimed that China Pakistan Economic Corridor shall create immense benefits for the population of Balochistan. He urged the Baloch youth to learn Chinese language in able to reap the maximum benefits of the project,  while speaking at a local bodies’ convention in Sibi, Balochistan on March 4, 2018.

He added that Balochistan had been facing morbid law and order situation for last many years because of the presence of some anti-state elements. Nevertheless the swift action of security forces and the sacrifices of Balochistan’s people have certainly restored peace in the region. There is economic development taking place and creating further opportunities. “It is high time to train the youth of the province to learn different skills so they could reap fruits of the ongoing CPEC projects”, he added.

Youth have to equip themselves with modern education and new skills to bring a change in their standards of living. By learning Chinese language, they can easily interact with Chinese experts and workers working on different projects under the CPEC in Baluchistan.

Pakistan’s infrastructure will be modernized under this multi-phased $62 billion project and its economy will be strengthened by the construction of modern transportation networks, energy projects, industrial development and special economic zones. Besides, health and education sectors will also be improved under this project. Out of its three phases, first one comprises of power projects (Hydel, thermal and coal) and highways.

Under this project, Pakistan and China should avoid an industrial competition and instead focus on complementarities to bear full benefit from the CPEC. China can support Pakistan in developing various industries such as mining, agriculture and manufacturing sub sectors through joint ventures and reciprocal business opportunities. The whole world is keeping an eye on China-Pakistan bilateral cooperation on various projects.

Therefore, many external as well as internal challenges may affect the CPEC. India is overtly opposing this project and is trying to halt this project by supporting insurgency to create unrest in Pakistan. Moreover, CPEC has raised Pakistan’s economic image and attracting investors from all over the world. Pakistanis are looking forward to CPEC as a forerunner of opportunities and a catalyst to generate more employment opportunities in the country but the Baloch people have the first right to avail employment opportunities. Therefore, Pakistan must keep them first priority to change the fate of Balochistan.
