Moonis Elahi’s ‘abducted’ friend returns home after four days

Moonis Elahi's friend Faran was dropped outside his home in the wee hours of Wednesday.

PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi’s friend Ahmed Faran has returned home days after the former claimed that he was allegedly “abducted” from Lahore’s Garden Town.

Ahmed Faran’s brother had moved the Lahore High Court (LHC) against his ‘disappearance’, alleging that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had kept him in illegal custody.

Taking notice of the incident, the LHC directed FIA to recover PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi’s friend Faran Khan and present him before the court, to which FIA said that the agency had not arrested Faran nor he was in its custody. The court then directed Lahore CCPO to recover Faran.

As per media details, Moonis Elahi’s friend Faran was dropped outside his home in the wee hours of Wednesday. Ahead of the LHC hearing today, Faran Khan talked to the media and said he was staying with his family. About his head injury, Moonis Elahi’s close friend said he was accidentally hit by a vehicle door while coming to the court.

Moonis Elahi’s friend was abducted?

Last week, PML-Q leader and son of Punjab Chief Minister, Moonis Elahi claimed that his close friend Faran had been abducted by some unknown men riding black-colored vehicles in Lahore. Moonis Elahi also shared CCTV footage of the vehicles.

“Yesterday a friend of mine was picked up by some people in 2 black Vigos in Lahore. The FIA people swear that they did not do it,” Moonis Elahi said.

“You guys don’t understand that we don’t want to join PDM,” he further added.

The claims by Moonis Elahi sparked strong reactions from PTI leaders. Former federal minister and PTI Vice President Fawad Chaudhry condemned the harassment of PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi and his family.

“National politics cannot be controlled by a remote,” he said while speaking at the anti-inflation protest in Jhelum.
