Muniba Mazari was recently criticized for twisting the facts of her marital split time and again in her earlier interviews after a video of her praising her husband went viral on social media.
The artist and human rights activist yesterday issued a lengthy clarification of the video on her Facebook. In her post, she informed that the video of her PTV interview was before her divorce, five years ago.
Taking to social media, the activist wrote, “If you’re reading this and you are married but unhappy and struggling, then know that I am sending all of my love and prayers your way. Five years ago, I was where you are today. My PTV interview circulating around social media is from that time.”
She also said that she was emotionally exhausted to make the marriage work. Unfortunately, the marriage ended in divorce. She said that people going through similar troubles in their marital life can better relate to her situation.

It is emotionally exhausting to try and make a marriage work, to make sure you don’t wash your dirty laundry in public, to do the best in your power for your child, struggle with the insecurities of what the future may hold – all the while maintaining the façade of a perfect marriage,” she continued.
“The relationship of marriage is worth the struggle and I pray yours is rewarded with nothing but positivity. No matter what the outcome, always, always remember that in this time of struggle, you are not alone.”
“If you are reading this and you are divorced, a single parent but also differently-abled while being in the public eye – then please come have tea with me! I would love to meet someone who can help me understand how a paraplegic can be condemned as promiscuous, or keeping your ex anonymous can be labeled as defamation.”
Lastly, she said just like other people she too has got the rights to keep private the matters of her private life from the public.
Her husband made waves on social media recently as he accused her of defaming his name and spreading lies about him. He has decided to sue her and on Friday a local court in Islamabad issued a notice to Muniba Mazari. The court has directed her to issue a reply to the accusations made by her ex-husband.Â

This is the fifth case filed against Mazari by her husband Khurram Shehzad, who is a former Pakistan Air Force officer. The first few cases were for the custody of a child the couple had adopted when they were together. Mazari’s lawyer is prepared to challenge the allegations against her in the next hearing and said he was convinced the petition will be dismissed within a couple of hearings.Â
