The official statement issued by the Punjab Censor Board stated that the ‘obscene scenes’ and ‘inappropriate content’ in the sequel of ‘Na Maloom Afraad’, made the rationale for the imposition of the ban.
‘Na Maloom Afraad 2′, starring Javed Sheikh, Fahad Mustafa, and Mohsin Abbas Haider in key roles has earned Rs 100 million in the first five weeks of its release across the country.
For many, the imposition of ban on the movie is baffling since the movie has already been exhibited across the country and is now bagging gross profits.
The promulgation of the ban is definitely a setback for the makers and the stars of the movie.
Producer Fizza Ali Meerza reacted to the news and expressed her irk in a statement where she questioned the credibility of the Punjab Censor Board’s decision.
“I don’t understand why they came up with an excuse to ban the film five weeks after its release”.
Meerza also said that a sub-standard reporting by a local daily in Lahore with no readership made baseless comments that the movie has vulgar and obscene content that triggered the ban.
The team of Na Maloom Afraad 2 now vows to challenge the imposition of the ban. They have expressed their desire to continue their journey towards making social issues, themes of their movies.
The movie talks about the apathy of the Arab Sheikhs and their extravagant lives filled with luxuries that makes them oblivious to the drudgeries of a common man.
With the unpleasant projection of Arab sheikhs, the subject of the movie, the makers definitely did not make it into the good books of UAE authorities.
Hence, the movie faces bans on its public display in UAE as well.
But the movie seems to have hit the right spot as news of Saudi’s King Salman Bin Abdul-Aziz’s official luxurious trip to Moscow is hitting the internet with frenzy.
The King on his four-day visit is reportedly carrying with himself 800kg of food. While the bills of booking two hotels for the 1500 entourage accompanying the King on the visit is expected to fall near $3 million.
Moreover, it is also heard that personal staff of King Salman who knows exactly the likes of their master has replaced the official staff of the hotels.
Saudi King has also brought with himself furniture and a Gold escalator to facilitate his stay without a pinch of discomfort in Moscow.
The movie is not far off showing an accurate representation of some of the world richest Arab Sheikhs.
