Pakistani celebrities support Naseebo Lal amid PSL 6 anthem backlash

PSL 6’s anthem, ‘Groove Mera’ has been trending atop on social media. The song has failed to woo the PSL fans who had anxiously waited for the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League which is happening COVID-19 restrictions.

Pakistani celebrities have stepped forward in support of singer Naseebo Lal and Aima Baig amid backlash on social media for the PSL 6  anthem ‘Groove Mera’. Celebrities including Gohar Rasheed, Mehwish Hayat, Meesha Shafi have called out the haters trolling the singers and the makers of the song on social media.

The song features Aima Baig, Naseebo Lal, and rappers Young Stunners. PSL 6’s anthem, ‘Groove Mera’ has been trending atop on social media. The song has failed to woo the PSL fans who had anxiously waited for the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League which is happening COVID-19 restrictions.

The anthem received somewhat a similar response like it was given to Tayyar Hain released last year. Social media users again called Ali Zafar and the singer started trending on social media on weekends.

Meanwhile, a score of Pakistani celebrities stepped in and slammed people for discouraging and mocking artists, Naseebo Lal, who is originally a Punjabi folk singer.

Mehwish Hayat, an outspoken and vociferous singer, took to her Twitter account and gave her two-cents on the controversy.

“Idk what the fuss is abt? I loved the new #pslanthem2021. It was bold & fresh! This is what stifles creativity in our country, we always want more of the same & not prepared to accept anything different. This bashing has to stop. We need a diversity of voices & ideas. Well done PSL!,” wrote Mehwish Hayat on Twitter.

 

Rasheed in his statement asked that why do people have to criticize the PSL anthem every year.“Why do we always have to bash the #pslanthem? has it become a ritual? #GrooveMera has a nice stadium anthem vibe to it, I LIKE IT !! remember putting up a show #PSL6 in these times is not easy so let’s show some respect and support coz the world is watching us !!,” said Rasheed in his tweet.

Meanwhile, Shafi boosting the morale of the artists said: “Queen #NaseeboLal bringing that on the pitch with that pitch. I am her biggest fan! ‘Mera geet ainaa speakeraan nu ugg laway… Gaddiaan ch wajjee jaaway!’

However, people are convinced that Zafar has produced some of the best PSL anthems previously and that he should be called in once again by Pakistan Cricket Board.
