Hina Parvez Butt, MPA of PMLN, has compared the protagonist Ertugrul to Maryam Nawaz. She likened the leadership qualities of the senior leader Maryam Nawaz-daughter of Nawaz Sharif, to Ertugrul in a tweet that drove Twitter into a frenzy.
The young MPA said she is watching the series these days. So, she sensed a striking similarity between the leadership qualities of Ertugrul-protagonist in popular Turkish serial Dirilis Ertugrul and Maryam Nawaz.

Hina Parvez Butt confronted mockery on social media for her amusing comments. However, this is what Hina Parvez Butt believes. Her tweet reflected the tenacity of her conviction on Maryam Nawaz. Also, not only Hina Parvez Butt but other PMLN legislatures are comparing their leadership to Ertugrul.

Hina Parvez Butt continued to receive flak on her tweet comparing Maryam Nawaz to Ertugrul. She pivoted back to respond to her critics. She said her tweet on Maryam Nawaz and Ertugrul irked the detractors. Yet, she will continue to express love for Maryam Nawaz. Moreover, she expressed hope that one day Maryam Nawaz will become the prime minister of Pakistan. Adding that she is the pride of Muslim League Nawaz.

But the popular drama serial Dirilis Ertugrul reminds another PML-N leader Maryam Aurangzeb of Nawaz Sharif. She also expressed similar thoughts in a tweet. Maryam Aurangzeb said that drama serial Ertugrul Ghazi reminded her of Mian Nawaz Sharif. She went on to add that Mian Nawaz Sharif faced similar conspiracies like the protagonist Ertugrul faced in the drama serial.

Maryam Aurangzeb said that the conspirators forced Mian Nawaz Sharif out of the parliament of Pakistan. She said that Nawaz Sharif always defeated his foes with his strength and tenacity. He will do this time too. She said he will strike back more than before.

The broadcast of Turkish serial Dirilis Ertgurul on PTV has fermented bizarre discourse in Pakistan. Moreover, the whimsical statement from Pakistani social media users poured in since it’s broadcast. However, from concerns of aggravating identity crisis among people in Pakistan, the drama received flak for overshadowing the local entertainment industry.
People like Jibran Nasir, Shaan Shahid, and Reema disapproved of the broadcast of Turkish serial on a state-owned media-PTV.
Now, PML legislatures have initiated a crusade on social media likening the characters of Dirilis Ertugrul to the top leadership of PMLN. Is it a coincidence or a well-thought effort of PML-N to tap into the popularity of Dirilis Ertugrul to overturn the public sentiments in favor of Nawaz Sharif and senior leadership of PML-N?

Turkish drama series Dirilis Ertugrul was aired on the 1st of Ramadan on the request of PM Imran Khan. It is based on the life of Oghuz Turk leader, who was the father of Osman I, the founder of the Ottoman Empire. The PM was of the view to revive the efforts made by the Muslim leader back in the 13th-century through this drama serial. This show gained massive popularity in Pakistan as it is connecting the people with the past empire.

Dirilis Ertugrul has shattered popularity records in Pakistan. The serial is already a huge success for PTV with the broadcast of its first episode. The first episode of Ertugrul Ghazi has received 2.4M views and still counting. Moreover, PTV Home has registered an exponential rise in its viewership and subscription on YouTube.
