PTI exposes accounts vilifying female leaders

After the character assassination attempt of Maleeka Bokhari, PTI conducted a study and revealed a list of Twitter accounts that are allegedly behind the campaigns. The Twitter accounts are also followed by PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz.

PTI has exposed the Twitter accounts allegedly behind the salacious propaganda targetting its female leaders. PTI has also accused PML-N of being behind the campaign.

To clarify, former lawmaker and spokesperson of PTI on legal issues Maleeka Bokhari recently became the victim of dirty deep fake propaganda as video clips linked to her surfaced online on Sunday showing a woman in a compromising position.

The Twitter accounts seem to be pro-PML-N and are also followed by PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz, leading to sharp criticism of the PML-N leader.

“After the recent episodes of filthy attacks against PTI women, we conducted a study and came up with a list of PML-N accounts behind the shameful campaigns. Maryam Nawaz, PML-N leadership and some journalists follow most of these accounts,” PTI tweeted while sharing screenshots of the accounts.

Pakistani politics have descended to new levels of low as manipulated clips, pictures, and audio recordings of politicians surface online, leading to character assassination.

In conservative societies like Pakistan, where gender roles and expectations are deeply entrenched, the leakage of sex videos, even fake ones, involving female politicians could have severe consequences for their personal and political lives.

While male politicians are also targeted, the impact could be particularly harsh for female politicians due to the existing societal stigma and discrimination against women when it comes to issues of sexuality and privacy.

Notable female politicians in Pakistan, for instance, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, and even Maryam Nawaz herself are the victims of character assassination through doctored explicit images and videos.

Furthermore, instead of investigating the cause of such frequent leaks, the government and opposition continue to trade blame despite both sides falling victim to leaks and such propaganda which discredited them.
