Rana Sanaullah accuses former COAS & DG ISI of facilitating Imran Khan

Rana Sanaullah asserted that there were people who loved him as their favorite, so he kept doing something or other until November 26. This is not the first time that political leaders have leveled accusations at the former army chief and spymaster.

PML-N leader and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has accused former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen (retd) Qamer Jawed Bajwa and former spymaster (DG ISI) Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed facilitating PTI Chairman Imran Khan until their respective retirements.

While talking on a program for a private news channel, Rana Sanaullah endorsed the statement made by PML-N senior vice president Maryam Nawaz where she claimed that PML-N began functioning after November 28.

“We are told that this government [has been in power] for 8 months. However, this government began after November 28. Our government began after November 28 before that ladla’s [blue-eyed boy] handlers were present,” Maryam Nawaz had said while slamming Imran Khan.

Pertinent to mention that former COAS Bajwa retired from his post on November 28, while ex-DG ISI Faiz Hameed also retired from the military a few days later. After his retirement, it was speculated that Faiz Hameed may join politics, however, he rejected the news.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah defended Maryam Nawaz’s statement and said that it is nothing new. He said the facilitators left in November and before that, they advised Imran Khan on the long march.

The PML-N leader asserted that there were people who loved him as their favorite, so he kept doing something or other until November 26.

“It is evident that General (retd) Bajwa and General (retd) Faiz Hameed had been facilitating Imran Khan until November 28, 2022, despite the fact that Shehbaz Sharif was prime minister and the cabinet was functional,” Rana Sanaullah also said.

Accusations aplenty!

This is not the first time that political leaders have hurled heavy accusations at the former army chief and spymaster. In January, PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif blamed Qamar Javed Bajwa and Faiz Hameed for the current mess in the country.

He recalled his Gujranwala speech at the PML-N public gathering on October 16, 2020, where he directly accused the then chief of army staff Gen (retd) Bajwa and then-director-general Inter-Services Intelligence Lt Gen Faiz of rigging elections.

He had blamed the military top brass for installing PTI Imran Khan as the prime minister in violation of the constitution, removing his government, muzzling the media, pressurizing the judiciary, and victimizing opposition politicians.

Interestingly, the PML-N narrative is in stark contrast to Imran Khan’s who has accused Bajwa of toppling his government. The PTI chief even claimed that then military establishment was in contact with the PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif to topple his government and the plot against his government became clear following the removal of Faiz Hameed as ISI chief in October 2021.
