Pop star Selena Gomez has been hospitalized in the wake of her emotional breakdown. The affluent actress and singer revealed in an interview back in 2014 that she had been suffering from lupus for some time and even underwent chemotherapy to treat it. In 2016, she spent 90 days in a facility, getting mental health treatment to learn how to cope with issues related to her lupus. Her health improved for a bit until 2017 where her kidney failed her and she needed another one to live.
Thankfully her friend and fellow actress Francia Raisa was able to provide Gomez with the kidney that she needed. Her condition drastically improved and it appeared all was well until fairly recently. The ‘Come and Get It’ songstress had been suffering from depression for quite some time and decided to go to a treatment center for two weeks to combat anxiety and depression. But in the past two weeks, actress’s health had been getting worse. She was checked into the hospital twice in two weeks TMZ reported.
A low blood count resulted in her becoming ‘despondent and emotional’. The singer was re-admitted a number of days later for the same reason. This time, however, her reaction was much worse. After being rushed to the hospital, she “freaked out” and tried to leave, ripping the IV lines out of her arm when doctors told her she couldn’t leave. “She has had a tough few weeks and the panic attack in the hospital was the tipping point,” said a source.
Prior to all this, the Wolves singer announced that she was taking a break from Instagram. This happened mere days after a telling Instagram live chat with fans where she opened up about mental health.
“As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given. Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember — negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings. Obvi.’ she wrote.
E! News recently revealed that the singer was slowly getting better. “She is getting the help that she needs. She is already feeling better than she did last week” She really likes DBT and is a huge advocate of it. She wanted to go back. She gets a lot out of doing it.”
“Depression is something she’s always struggled with, but whenever it gets really bad for Selena, she removes herself from social media and withdraws from people who aren’t a handful of the people she trusts,” another source revealed.
The news of singer checking in to the mental health facility comes shortly after her famous ex Justin Bieber reportedly got married to Hailey Baldwin. According to rumors, that too is a contributing factor to her declining mental health. She recently released a Reggaeton-EDM song with DJ Snake, Ozuna, and rapper Cardi B, that’s already become a hit. She will also be starring in the upcoming zombie flick, The Dead Don’t Die.
