US President Donald Trump is making waves online following the World Cup final as he seemingly refused to leave the stage after presenting trophy to the Spanish team. Spain won the FIFA World Cup 2026 after defeating the former champion Argentina with a lead of one goal.
Spain marked its second world cup win following their win in 2010. While Donald Trump did not express his support openly, he seemingly supported Argentina when he said that it would be hard to beat against Messi. Speaking to the Fox News ahead of the match, Trump described Argentinian President Javier Melei as his friend, who has done a terrific job and joined Benjamin Netanyahu in backing Argentina.

As soon as Spain won, the Trump versus started trending online again. Football fans believe Trump’s endorsement or even his presence at games has frequently resulted in losses for his preferred side. This bad omen theory was once again revived during the World Cup final. He also seemingly refused to leave the stage after presenting trophy to Spanish team. Trump is the first sitting president of the US to attend a World Cup final on home soil and handed the World Cup trophy to the winners.
🟥 As expected… Trump refused to get out of the frame when Spain did the traditional World Cup Trophy lift.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino had to literally run over and attempt to physically drag him away, so that the Spanish Champions could have their special moment.

He hovered close to the team, refusing to leave the stage. This prompted President Gianni Infantino to run over to Trump and actively persuade him away from the team. However, Trump continued to stay in the winning photo standing at the side of the stage. Many social media users called out Trump for attempting to steal the Spain’s special moment, as people called his presence at the stage as inappropriate and embarrassing, while some commented on how this was a repeat of Trump’s crashing Chelsea’s Club World Cup win this year, during which Trump stayed front and center as the team held the trophy aloft.
