Watch: Imran Khan appears before female judge’s court to apologize

Imran Khan had earlier requested the court to allow him to apologize to judge Zeba Chaudhry in person.

PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan appeared on Friday before the court of Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry, the female judge he had allegedly threatened at a public rally, to apologize.

According to the details, Imran Khan asked the court reader to stay as a witness for his appearance in Chaudhry’s court to offer an apology, as the judge herself was on leave.

“I have come to apologize to judicial magistrate Zeba Chaudhry,” Imran Khan told the court reader.

“You have to tell Madam Zeba Chaudhry that Imran Khan had visited and wanted to apologize if any of his words hurt her sentiments,” he told the reader.

Earlier, Islamabad High Court (IHC) had decided to not indict the PTI chief after he agreed to apologize to Judge Chaudhry. During the last hearing, the court was set to frame charges against Imran Khan, however, he offered an apology soon as the hearing began.

“I apologize if I crossed any line. It won’t happen again. I never intended to hurt the sentiments of the court,” Imran Khan had said while assuring the court of never committing “such an act again.” Imran Khan had also requested the court to allow him to apologize to judge Zeba Chaudhry in person.

Contempt of court case against Imran Khan

During his speech at an Islamabad rally, Imran Khan threatened to file cases against Islamabad’s inspector general of police and deputy inspector general of police.

“We won’t spare you,” he warned.

Not holding back, the former premier had also taken exception to Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry, who had approved his close aide Shahbaz Gill’s two-day physical remand at the request of the capital police, and said she should “prepare herself as action would be taken against her”.

On August 23, IHC issued a show-cause notice to Imran Khan after taking up contempt of court proceedings against him for allegedly threatening Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry.
