Watch: Lawyers assault PTI’s Laila Parveen in court

The disturbing video shows a mob of lawyers flocking towards Ms Parveen. She tried to save herself by going into a room however, the lawyers barged in. Throughout the incident, Ms Parveen continued to scream as the lawyers assaulted her and her brother. 

A group of lawyers allegedly assaulted PTI activist Laila Parveen and her brother within the premises of Malir Court in Karachi.

According to reports, Ms Parveen and her brother went to court in connection with a case she lodged against her ex-husband Advocate Hasnain about a dishonored cheque.

She said that her ex-husband gave a cheque for Rs6.5 million, which bounced. In this regard, she filed a case at the SITE-Superhighway police station.

However, when she appeared before the court with her brother, her ex-husband along with his colleagues Advocate Shahzad Saeed and Advocate Jalbani verbally and physically assaulted them.

A video of the incident also went viral on social media. The disturbing video shows a mob of lawyers flocking towards Ms Parveen. She tried to save herself by going into a room however, the lawyers barged into the room. Throughout the incident, Laila continued to scream as the lawyers assaulted her and her brother.

 

Later, Ms Parveen uploaded a video on her Facebook page where she narrated the entire incident. In her video statement, she claimed that she even fainted after the physical assault.

Ms Parveen demanded justice from both Chief Justice Gulzar and PM Imran Khan. Furthermore, she threatened that she will commit suicide if the lawyers responsible for such a heinous act are not held accountable.

“If the Chief Justice does not cancel the lawyers’ license, I will set myself on fire,” Ms Parveen said.

As per recent reports, Malir Police registered FIR against the lawyers at the complaint of Ms Parveen.

Reacting to the incident of Laila Parveen, Twitter demanded justice for her. They expressed their disappointment in the lawyers and lambasted their behavior towards the female.

Mob of lawyers attack AC Sialkot’s office

Important to note, this is not the first time that lawyers showed such behavior. Recently, lawyers attacked Assistant Commissioner Sonia Sadaf’s office in Sialkot. Images of the ransacked office went viral on social media.

The lawyers marched into the office of AC Sonia Sadaf and completely vandalized it. They broke the furniture and threw it out on the streets. They also chanted slogans against her.

Reacting to the news, social media users raised concern over the behavior of the lawyers and demanded immediate action. According to them, such acts of violence should not be carried out by those responsible for ensuring justice within a society.
