Will be holidaying in mountains – Imran Khan reacts to being put on ECL

Taking to Twitter, PTI Chairman Imran Khan wrote that he has no plans to travel abroad because he neither has any properties or businesses abroad.

PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken a hilarious dig at the government for putting his name on the Exit Control List (ECL) – he has thanked the government and said that he will go for a holiday in the mountains if he gets the chance.

Taking to Twitter, PTI Chairman Imran Khan wrote that he has no plans to travel abroad because he neither has any properties or businesses abroad nor even a bank account outside the country.

However, he added that if he did get the opportunity for a vacation, he would spend time in the Northern areas of Pakistan.

“I want to thank the government for putting my name on the ECL as I have no plans to travel abroad because I neither have any properties or businesses abroad nor even a bank account outside the country. If and when I do get an opportunity for a holiday, it will be in our northern mountains, my favorite place on earth,” Imran Khan said on Twitter.

The federal government had earlier added the names of more than 70 people including PTI chief Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Begum to the Exit Control List on the grounds that they might flee abroad.

The decision to place the names on the no-fly list has come as the government takes strict action against PTI leaders allegedly connected with the May 9 vandalism of key government as well as military installations. The PTI leaders were first arrested under the Maintenance of Public Order, and now their names have been added to the ECL.

The list of people put on the ECL also includes Asad Umar, Asad Qaisar, Qasim Suri, Murad Saeed, Sheikh Rasheed, Ali Muhammad Khan and Shaheryar Afridi among others. Being named on the list will effectively mean that the political leaders will not be able to leave the country.

Although Imran Khan has said on multiple occasions that he would not leave the country, the government has still added his and his wife’s name to the ECL.
