Kashmiri national anthem ‘Watan Humara’ is set to get a new modern composition as announced by the state cabinet. The state cabinet in the meeting headed by the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider held in Muzaffarabad city has decided for the re-composition of the Kashmir’s national anthem.
The committee also decided to retain the lyrics of the national anthem written by Hafeez Jalandhari in mid-1960. Hafeez Jalandhari was a famous poet who penned down the national anthem of Pakistan.
The committee has announced for the arrangements for the re-composition of the national anthem under Minister for Information Mushtaq Minhas. The committee has announced to contact musicians and composers for this purpose.

Speaking to a media outlet, Mushtaq Minhas said, “We will try our level best to contact and consult good music maestro or a music company in any major city of Pakistan to recompose our national anthem,” he said.
“The music quality of ‘Watan Hamara’ is not up to the mark, as a record of the anthem is too old. Basically, this national song was composed in an old style and not according to the modern age,” he said. “We will try to give a modern composition to our national anthem,” he said, adding that the beautifully written lyrics need up to the mark composition,” he said.

The state song Watan Humara was inspired by the 1965 Indo-Pak war. Surprisingly, the national anthem is not in the regional language of Kashmiri but in Urdu. The first few lines of the national anthem describe the breathtaking beauty of Kashmir valley.
